Description
A connecting coupling for a high-pressure cleaner.
The present invention is related to a connecting coupling for a high-pressure cleaner and of the type described in the introductory part of claim 1.
Particularly, the invention is related to Danish Patent Application No. 0724/90 disclosing a high-pressure cleaner operating with a single pump piston being drive connected directly with an engine piston of an internal combustion engine, that is where the pulsating frequency of the fluid is dictated by the speed of rotation of the drive engine.
The invention has for its purpose to provide a connecting coupling for a high-pressure cleaner of the type mentioned initially, which by simple provisions makes it possible to obtain an easy working and mechanical stable coupling con¬ nection between a discharge stub of the high-pressure clea¬ ner and by way of example a jet pipe.
The connecting coupling according to the invention is di¬ stinctive in that the connecting stub of the insertion part and the socket part are adapted to be mutually connected in such pressure neutral manner that the coupling conditions are uneffected by pressure variations of high-pressure fluid from the high-pressure cleaner. By simple provisions is hereby obtained an easy working and mechanical stable coupling connection which is particularly important in con¬ nection with high-pressure cleaner disclosed in Danish Pa¬ tent Application No. 0724/ 90 when regarding that it is working with a high-pressure liquid stream (up to approxi¬ mately 130 bar) and a pulsation frequency of between 50 and 150 Hz.
Expediently, the connecting coupling is such provided that the socket part comprises an insertion member with a closed
end part and with a number of axial bores debouching into a ring-shaped connection chamber of the insertion member, that the insertion part is provided with closed point end with radial openings on level with the connection chamber and with O-ring-tightenings towards the central bore of the insertion member at both sides of the radial openings, and that the insertion member inside the closed end part is provided with a preferably radial bore communicating with the surroundings.
The connecting coupling according to the invention may as known per se be such provided that the collar part of the insertion part is formed by a mainly cylindrical member which behind a foremost holding collar is provided with a surrounding recess, and which opposite the collar part is provided with a central thread bushing for an end part by way of example of a jet pipe, that said holding means of the holding part are provided by a number of holding fin¬ gers which along the periphery of the holding part stretch- es outside the socket part, and which at free ends have in¬ terior arched projections being adapted to grasp behind the holding collar of the insertion part, that is interact in said recess, and that said activation means of the locking ring member are formed by an inner ring shaped wedge sur- face which by axial displacement of the locking ring in re¬ lation to the holding part (8) is adapted to squeeze the holding fingers around the holding collar that is with the arched projections of the holding fingers in locking enga¬ gement with the recess of the insertion part, as the lock- ing ring is adapted to be fixed at the outside of the hold¬ ing part in an inmost locking position and an outermost free position where the insertion part can be taken out freely from the socket part and the holding part, respecti¬ vely.
In order to control the coupling situation constantly the connection coupling is preferably such provided that the locking ring on level with the collar part of the insertion part is provided with an interior rib being adapted to en- gage with an axial recess at the outside of the collar part so that the insertion part is prevented to rotate in rela¬ tion to the connecting coupling.
In the following the invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing, in which:-

Fig. 5 shows a view of the in Fig. 4 shown insertion part as seen from left side - that is against the side of the collar part that turns away from the high- pressure cleaner.
Fig. 6 shows a longitudinal section through an embodiment for a socket part to the connecting coupling accor- ding to the invention.
Fig. 7 shows a cross section cf the section line VII VII of the in Fig. 6 shown socket part,
Fig. 8 shows a longitudinal section through an embodiment for a locking ring to the connecting coupling ac¬ cording to the invention.
Fig. 9 shows a cross section view cf the section line IX - IX of the in Fig. 8 shown locking ring,
Fig. 10 shows a side view of the in Fig. 8 and 9 shown locking ring - as seen from the line X - X in Fig. 9.
Fig. 11 shows a coupling situation corresponding to Fig. 1 and established by means of a preferred embodiment for a connecting coupling according to the inventi¬ on, and
Fig. 12 shows a perspective view of an insertion part for the in Fig. 11 shown connecting coupling according to the invention,
A connecting coupling according to the invention is shown in Fig. 1, showing a coupling situation where a jet pipe 2 is connected to a discharge stub 4 from a high-pressure cleaner 6. A holding part 8 with holding fingers 10 is fi¬ xed to to the high-pressure cleaner 6 by means of a socket part 12 which in addition in the shown embodiment comprise a valvehouse 14 for the pressure valve 16 of the high-pres¬ sure cleaner.
The holding fingers 10 are surrounding the outer end of the socket part 12 in which is inserted a connecting stub 18 of a male part or insertion part 20 which also comprise hold¬ ing collar 22 with a surrounding recess 24 in which inte-
rior arched projections 26 by outer free ends of the hold¬ ing fingers 10 are fixed by means of an outer locking ring 28 which is placed around the fingers 10 of the holding part, and which by means of an inner ring-shaped surface 30 squeeze the holding fingers 10 around the holding collar 24 so that the interior projections 26 of the holding fingers are engaging the recess 24. The locking ring 28 which is fixed on the outside of the holding part 8 and inside the holding fingers 10 is shown in its inner locking position; however the locking ring 28 may be outwards displaced the distance A on the outside of the holding part 8 to a re¬ leased position where the locking engagement between the holding fingers 10 and the holding collar recess 24 is dis¬ engaged, that is that the insertion part 20 may be removed from the socket part 12 and the holding part 8, respective¬ ly.
Reffering to Fig. 8 and 9 may be mentioned that the locking ring 28 at the inside is provided with a longitudinal rib 32, which is meant to engage a longitudinal outer recess 34 of the collar part 22 of the insertion part, so that the insertion part 20 and hereby the jet pipe 2 is prevented to rotate in relation to the discharge stub 4 of the high- pressure cleaner. In Fig. 10 is shown how the locking ring 28 at the outside is provided with oblong inwardly arch- formed fingergrips 36.
The preferred connecting coupling as shown in Fig. 11 is provided with a modified socket part 38 and an insertion part 40, which is particularly advantageous when regarding that it is working with high-pressure liquid stream and a varying pulsation frequency. The socket part 38 is provided with an insertion member 42 with a closed end part 44 to¬ wards the central part of the socket part and with a number of axial bores 46 debouching into a ring-shaped connection chamber 48 of the insertion member 42. The insertion part
40 is provided with closed point end 50 and with radial openings 52 on level with the connection chamber 48, which by the openings 52 and the central bore 54 of the insertion part is connected with the jet pipe 2. The insertion member 42 is, inside the closed end part 44, provided with a ra¬ dial bore 56 which is communicating with the surroundings.
At both sides of the ring-shaped connection chamber 48 the insertion part 40 is provided with exterior ring grooves 58 (Fig. 12) for O-rings 60, which form effective tightenings with the inward cylinder surface 62 of the insertion part. And as the insertion part 40 moreover is pressure relieved to the surroundings at both sides of the 0-ring tighte¬ nings, by simple provisions is produced a pressure-neutral connecting coupling, that is that pulsating high-pressure liquid can not affect the coupling conditions in negative manner.
