Abstract

Storage system for carriers of auditive, visual or informative registrations, whereby the cassettes/cases are coupled together and are dismountable by means of an identical locating arm attached to each individual cassette, whereby these locating arms are equipped with an axle and an axle hole so that the axle of one locating arm can be fit into the hole in the adjoining one in such manner that each locating arm with the attached cassette is blocked in the axial direction in relation to the adjoining one but can rotate and thus swung outwards in the nonaxial direction in relation to the adjoining one. The attachment of the locating arm to a cassette for cd is realized by passing it through grooves in the lid of the cassette and thus clasping the part of the lid between the grooves.

Description

Storage system for auditive, visual and informative recordings.
The present invention concerns a storage system for sound and /or picture registrations such as e,g, compact discs and microcassettes.
Systematic storage, classification and maintenance of an established classification of these mediums packed in cassettes , in a manner which creates no difficulty in identifying them by title, constitutes a problem, now that their number is increasing through the use of modern technology. Racks are available on the market, with or without cut outs, for storing cassettes on which auditive or visual recordings are registered, in which the cassettes can either be placed vertically, one behind the other, or horizontally, one above the other and thus be classified. These storage systems have a fixed capacity per unit and can only be extended per unit. Legibility becomes more difficult, because the writing of the cassettes, in stored position, is only readable on the edge and, in order to see the upper side, the cassettes must be taken out of the storage system. This is a tedious process, as the storage systems are not designed to be picked up.
In the system, subject of the invention, the existing disadvantages concerning the storage, classification, choice of title and finding of the required cassette are minimized.
By means of the invention, a random number of cassettes or cases, in particular, compact disc cases, can be coupled to each other in any desired classification order and in such- manner that, in coupled state every one of the cases can be swayed out between the other cases and opened, whereby it is set in a position which makes it possible to take out or put back the auditive, visual or informative recording.
According to the invention, the cases, in particular, compact disc cassettes, are joined together by means of axle segment which fit into each other and can be swung outwards and downwards by means of locating arms. The sequence is arbitrary and interchangeable and the series can be interrupted at random. Each cassette can, therefore , be detached or recoupled from the ones next to it.
In coupled state, a number of these cassettes constitute a stable unit, which stands on its own and on which a swayed out and opened cassette can rest, so that its content can be taken out or be replaced. The whole unit consists therefore, of a random series of cases or cassettes, joined together by means of hinged elements in a manner which makes it possible to remove each individual disc or registration from the unit, whilst the cassette retains its place in the series. The number of cassettes coupled to each other in this way can be limited to a handy/portable group. Any desired collection/classification can thus be obtained.
The installation, according to the present invention, is a storage system for a number of carriers, suitable for auditive or visual registrations which are kept in flat, square cases or cassettes and is characterized in that each case is provided with a hinged, revolving locating arm with a segment fixed to the axle and a cam at the opposite extremity. In the case of compact disc cassettes, this locating arm is passed though one of the grooves in the lid of the case which is closest to the hinge of the case and twisted through to the outside via another groove, so that the locating arm in question grips the section of the case lid lying between. The cases are stored one behind the other and hinge-joined between the locating arms since the axle segment on each locating arm fits, on one side. into the cylindrical axle hole on the other side of the following locating arm, whilst a clamping ring in a non axial groove on the axle constitutes an anchor, so that each individual case can be swung upwards, whereby the portion of the case which houses the carrier opens up,via a hinge, in the horizontal position, resting on the cams of the other locating arms, whereby the lid of the case stays in vertical position so that the' titles remain visible and the carrier can easily be returned to its place.
A small lever with a spring-ring, fitting over a clamping ring on the axle segment, serves to fix the case or cassette in position whilst swinging it up. The spring ring can also be attached to or constitute a whole with the axle hole segment of the locating arm.
The invention is further explained by means of the attached drawings.
In these drawings, equivalent parts are indicated by the same position number.
Drawing 1 shows an isometric view of the installation according to the invention. Drawing 2 shows a cross-section according to the line B-B' in drawing 1. drawing 3 is a diagrammatic representation of the construction of the locating arm with the cam which is fixed to each of the cases.
Drawing 4 shows how the case is attached.
Drawing 5 shows a cross section along line A-A' from which it can be seen how the spring ring is snapped over the clamping ring onto the lever.
The following components are shown in these drawings:
1. is a clamping ring over the axle
2. is a non axial groove into which the clamping ring falls 3. is an axle segment
4. is a cam with a clamp-edge
5. is a clamping ring on a lever for swinging up the case or cassette
6. is a cylindrical axle-hole for joining one axle segment to the next.
7. is the groove on the edge of the lid of the case or cassette for the purpose of fastening it to the locating arm
8. is an open lid of a case or cassette
It can be seen how the cases are joined together by means of axle segments and can thus revolve and be fixed in position.
The section of the case, between two grooves on one of the narrow sides, is gripped between the locating arm. For this purpose, the locating arm is passed through an opening and the point is brought by rotary motion through the other opening on the side of the case.
A grip edge on the cam fastens around the edge of the case and thus holds it in position. The chosen order and succession of the cases or cassettes, as well as their number, can be altered at random by detaching the axle segments from each other. In this manner, it is always possible to exchange, add er remove cases in the unit.
This renders the storage system flexible and adaptable to any type of classification.
The number of cases which can be coupled together by means of the axle segments is unlimited.
The combined components form a stable whole which can be extended as required. Since the cases revolve amongst each other, due to the fixation system, the coupled cases can be held fanwise in the hand which facilitates searching.

Claims

Claims:

System for storage of numbers of carriers with auditive or visual registrations, such as compact discs, packed for storage in flat cases characterized in that each of these cases i equipped with a hinged, rotatable axle segment so that the cases have a hinged connection to each other when stored one behind the other, due to the fact that the axle segment of each locating arm locks on one side into the cylindrical axle-hole (6) on the other side of the next, identical locating arm, whereby the axial movement is "blocked by a unblockable catch in a non-axial groove (2) on the axle, so that each case can be swung upwards, independently of the others, whereby a section of the case, in which the carrier stored, is opened in horizontal position by the lid-hinge and comes to rest on the sides of the other cases, whilst the lid remains in vertical position.
2. Storage system according to claim 1, characterized in that the hinged locating arm is passed through a groove in the lid, the one nearest to the hinge of the case, and passed through a second groove (7) to the outside, so that the locating arm in question grips the section of the lid between the two grooves.
3. Storage system according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that a lever with a spring-ring (5) over a clamping-ring (1) around the axle segment (3) serves to block and unblock the case in the axial direction, so that the whole case can be removed from the series.
4. Storage system according to claims 1 and 2 characterized in that the catch for axial blockage and unblockage forms a whole with the locating arm through which the axle segment (1) is passed
5. Work method for systematic, registered storage for carriers of auditive or visual registrations, characterized in that an installation according to claims 1,2,3 en 4 is used.
