Abstract

A benzamide derivative of formula (I) wherein R1 represents alkyl optionally containing one or more carbon-carbon double or triple bonds, and optionally interrupted by one or more hetero atoms, or sulphinyl or sulphonyl groups, optionally carrying one or more substituents selected from halogen, amino, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylamino, or -CONR6R7 groups wherein R6 represents hydrogen or methyl and R7 represents methyl, trifluoromethyl or trichloromethyl, the symbols R2 represent hydrogen, alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl or the two groups R2 form a ring, R3 represents hydrogen or alkyl, R4 represents alkoxy, alkylthio, dimethylamino, or a 5- to 8-membered heterocyclo group, and R5 represents -NR?8R9 or -OR10¿ wherein R?8 and R9¿ represents hydrogen or alkyl optionally containing one or more carbon-carbon double or triple bonds, and optionally interrupted by one or more hetero atoms, or sulphinyl or sulphonyl groups, and R10 represents hydrogen or alkyl optionally containing one or more carbon-carbon double or triple bonds, and optionally interrupted by one or more hetero atoms, or sulphinyl or sulphonyl groups, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, possess useful pharmacological properties.
