Abstract

The loudspeaker cabinet has two loudspeakers for reproducing the right and left channels of a stereo signal in at least the bass frequency range. The axes of the loudspeakers cross each other and their distance is such that the magnetic fields just do not touch.

Description

Loudspeaker cabinet
The invention relates to a loudspeaker box, equiped with two for the reproduction of at least the low-frequency region intended loudspeakers, of which the centre lines are crossing.
Such loudspeaker boxes have been commonly known in various designs. A drawback of the known loudspeaker boxes is their comparative large sizes. The German Offenlegungs- schrift 2.441.950 describes a loudspeaker box, by which an attempt has been made to solve this drawback by means of applying a clear transparent material in the construction, showing a smaller size. The drawback of the large sizes however is not realy solved in this way.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a loudspeaker box, costructed in such a way that only one loudspeaker box is needed for the reproduction of the stereosignal and yet a natural reproduction is realized.
It is a further object of the invention, that the two earlier mentioned loudspeakers are housed in one enclosed space intended for the reproduction of the left respectivily right channel of a stereosignal and that the vertical distance between the centre lines of the two loudspeakers is such, that as well the corresponding magnetic fields do not influence each other as that the damping is balanced.
In consequence a stereo system will need only one loudspeaker box, by which due to the specific distance between the two loudspeakers a state is obtained at which the magnetic fields do not influence each other and the damping is balanced, resulting in a distortion free reproduction.
The invention will be explained hereinafter with reference to the accompaning drawing, in which an example of the design is displayed .
Fig. 1 depicts a simplefied isometric view of the design of the loudspeaker box in accordance with the
invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional diagram of the loudspeaker box in fig. 1.1.
In the drawing a loudspeakerbox 1 is illustrated, in this case arranged as a bass-reflex type of loudspeaker box. The basic principle of the invention is also applicable in the closed-acoustic box type of loudspeaker housing.
The loudspeaker box 1 is equiped with two loudspeakers 2 and 3, which are mounted on two neighbouring walls of a loudspeaker box 1 characterized by a square cross-section and an undevided volume, so that the centre lines 4, 5 of the loudspeakers 2. 3 will cross under 90 degrees.
The minimum vertical distance between the centre lines 4 and 5 of the loudspeakers 2 and 3 is such, that the magnetic fields of the loudspeakers 2 and 3 do not influence each other. Due to the non-interacting magnetic fields, no mutual influencing of the loudspeakers 2 and 3 will take place. The vertical distance between the centre lines 4 and 5 of the loudspeakers 2 and 3 is such that the damping inside the loudspeaker box 1 is balanced and no resonance will be added to the loudspeaker box 1. The absence of a mutual inter-action of the magnetic fields and the balanced damping in the loudspeaker box 1 with undevided volume guarentee a distortion free reproduction of the stereo signal.
As illustrated in fig. 2 the loudspeaker box 1 will be positioned with one diagonal perpendicular to a wall 7 , causing the sound to be reflected into the listening room.
The invention is not restricted to the preceding description of the design example only, which can be varied within the scope df the invention in different ways.

Claims

1. Loudspeaker box, comprising two for the reproduction of at least the low-freguency region intended loudspeakers of which the centre lines are crossing, whereby the two mentioned loudspeakers are intended for the reproduction of the left respectivily the right channel of the stereo signal and that the vertical distance between the centre lines of the two loudspeakers is such that the corresponding magnetic fields do not influence each other and that the damping of the emitted soundwaves inside the loudspeaker box is balanced.
2. Loudspeaker box according to Claim 1, and further comprising a square cross-section as characteristic for the loudspeaker box.
3. Loudspeaker box according to Claim 2 , and further comprising an undevided inner room as characteristic for the loudspeaker box.
