Abstract

Dans le procédé et l'appareil décrits, qui servent à moduler les caractéristiques de combustion d'une chambre de combustion à pulsation (20), les caractéristiques de mélange des réactifs de combustion et des produits de combustion sont modulées en fonction de la géométrie (22) de l'entrée de la chambre de combustion. La géométrie (22) de cette entrée peut être fixe ou variable, de façon à permettre la modulation des caractéristiques de mélange. Une boucle de réaction (44, 48) peut être utilisée pour détecter les caractéristiques de combustion réelles et ensuite pour faire varier la géométrie (22) de l'entrée, pour permettre l'obtention des caractéristiques de mélange désiré nécessaires pour produire les caractéristiques de combustion désirées. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le temps de mélange des réactifs et des produits de combustion est proportionné au rapport entre le rayon de l'orifice d'entrée et la vitesse d'injection. Divers modes de réalisation se rapportent à la variation du débit de masse des réactifs, variation qu'on obtient tout en maintenant constant le rapport rayon/vitesse.
