Description

DEVICE FOR DETACHABLE CONNECTION OF A WIRING CHANNEL
The present invention relates to a device for detachable connection of a wiring channel adapted to accommodate wires etc, to a bracket which can be fixed to a surface, said connection being effected by means of fasteners insertable in grooves in the wiring channel and engaging the wall of a bracket member facing inwardly forwards said channel.
SE, B, 450,961 discloses wiring channels of this type which can be fixed by means of screwable and preferably adjustable brackets spaced apart along a wall or other suitable surface to compensate for irre¬ gularities and variations. The main object of the invention is to provide a device by which such a channel can be attached to its brackets in a simple, reliable and readily detachable manner, and without the use of any special tools.
This object is achieved by means of a device according to the invention, which is mainly characterised in that the distance between the fasteners located at the upper and lower parts respectively of the wall, can be varied to establish said connection and to bring about an engagement with said channel and retain the latter in a mounted position.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is described below, reference being made to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a view of the mounted bracket, showing one of the fasteners in its pushed-out, mounted position, Fig. 2 is a view of the bracket, showing said fastener in its pushed-in, disengaged position,
Fig. 3 illustrates a stage of the connecting of a wiring channel to a bracket,
Fig. 4 is a view of a channel mounted by means of the device according to the invention, Fig. 5 is a sectional view of a mounted channel and a bracket part,
Fig. 6 is a front view of a fastener, and Fig. 7 is a lateral view of said fastener. The device 1 according to the invention is preferably used for detachably connecting to a bracket 4 fixed on a wall 3 or other surf-ace a wiring channel 2 of desired length and adapted to accommodate wires for current supply, data communication etc, and the associated switch means. The connection is established by means of fasteners 5, 6 insertable in grooves 7 , 8 in the wiring channel 2 and engaging a wall 9 of a bracket member 10 facing inwardly forwards the channel 2. Thus, the distances L and L between the fasteners 5, 6 located at the upper and lower wall parts 9A, 9B, respectively, can be varied, as shown in Figs 1, 2 and 5, to permit said fasteners, in a disengaged position I, to establish the connection and to bring about an engagement with said channel 2 and retain the latter in the mounted position II.
The movable, lower fastener 6 of the bracket fastening member 10 is arranged to be pushed by hand out of or into a space 11, as is shown in Figs 1 and 2, respectively. A guide ledge 12 is suitably arranged to cooperate with the fastener 6 and may, like the bracket 4 and the channel 2, be in the form of an extruded metal profile, and arranged such that one part 12A thereof is received in a recess 13 formed in the bracket fastening member 10 and extending across the wall 9 of said member. An abutment 12B provided on the guide ledge 12 is adapted to cooperate with the wiring channel 2 to be mounted in order to keep the latter at a certain distance from the bracket fastening member 10, as shown in Figs 4 and 5, said abutment being optionally formed of a projection 14 which can be received in the groove 8 for engaging the inner groove wall 15. The movable fastener 6 which can have the form of a bent spring, preferably made of stainless material, is arranged to be retained in contact with the bracket fastening member 10 in that e.g. its ends 16 are received in a space 17 formed between a recess in the guide ledge 12 and the wall 9 of the bracket fastening member 10.
The movable fastener spring 6 is arranged to cooperate, with its mid-portion 18, with a holding means 19 formed on the wiring channel 2, in order to connect the latter to the bracket 4 , as shown in the mounted position II in Fig. 4.For disconnection, the fastener spring is moved into position I, in which the mid-portion 18 of the spring is received in an appropriate space 11 of the bracket fastening member 10, and retracted inside the outer boundary part 21 of the wall of said bracket fastening member, so that, in position I, the latter is freely connectible to a channel 2, as shown in Fig. 3. First, an upper, ledge-shaped holding means 22 extending along said channel 2 is hitched on the groove-shaped, stationary fastener 5 which is preferably turned upwards. Then, the channel 2 is swung with its lower part towards the bracket fastening member 10 in the direction of the arrow 23, the movable fastener 6 being maintained in the position I. When the movable mid-portion 18 of the fastener has passed the lower holding means 19 with which it cooperates, the fastener 6 is actuated, so that its movable mid-portion 18 moves away from the member 10 in the direction of the arrow 24 and is locked in position in the groove 8 of the channel 2, and is prevented from being pulled out in the direction of the arrow 25 by the lower holding means 19 of the channel 2. The mid-portion 18 of the fastener spring 6 is retained in positions II and I, respectively, as can be seen from Figs 1 and 2 in the drawings. The spring is set by hand in the positions I and II and therefore has, between its two ends 16 and its mid-portion 18 , a bent operating part which serves as a grip and spring mechanism for the movable fastener 6 having an over- centre function, so that said parts 26 snap over into their respective end positions when pushed in the direction 27 or 28 , and at the same time move said fastener 6 into the end positions II and I, respectively. Finally, the mid-portion 18 of the spring may have a bent stiffening part 29 to increase its active supporting area in the space 11.
The movable fastener 6 is securely retained in the space 11 because it rests against the upper side of a shoulder 31 extending across the directions of movement 24 and 30 of the spring mid-portion, the fastener 6 being positively forced to pass the shoulder to be able to reach the position I in which it is inside the space 11 and the position II in which it is outside the space. In this manner, an effectively functioning device is obtained.
Preferably, the bracket 4 is divided into several parts to facilitate adjustment of the bracket on the wall 3. The example shown comprises a bracket 4 divided into two parts, one of which is the fastening member 10 described above, and the other is a mounting member 32 arranged to be detachably connected to the fastening member 10 and to the surface 3. Said members 10 and 32 preferably have [-shaped cross-sections, and the fastening member 32 is fixed to the wall by means of a bolt 33 extending through a slit-shaped opening 34 in the body 35 of said member. The flanges 36-37, 38-39 of the two members 32 and 10, respectively, can be detachably connected to each other by means of suitable connecting devices, such as the bolting 40 and the screw 41. The upper hole in one flange
38 of the fastening member 10 receives the bolt 40A for the bolting 40, said bolt being fastened by means of a suitable nut on the bottom side after adjustment in the direction 42 away from the wall 3 and the directio 43 towards said wall, in an oblong slit in the flange 36. The lower flanges 37 and 39 are interconnected by means of a screw 41 which is received in a threaded hole in the lower flange 37 of the bracket member 32, and is displaceabLe in a slit 44 in the lower flange 39 of the fastening member, said slit extending at one end 44A to the free end 39A of said flange. This arrangement makes it possible to adjust the bracket members 10 and 32 in a simple and effective way, and gives easy access from the outside for the adjustment and locking of the members relative to each other in the desired position since the slit 44 is laterally displaced from the mid-portion of the bracket and therefore is readily accessible to a tool from one of the upper edges of the bracket.
The present invention is not limited to the embodime described above and shown in the drawings, but can be varied within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.
