Abstract
A positioning device for stabilizing vertebral column segments or position holders between two vertebral column segments is of simple design and permits a certain alignment of the connecting rods to be connected to it. For this purpose, a positioning screw (1) having a threaded shaft part (2) and a receiving part (3) for a rod (5) at the head end is provided. The rod and receiving part can be rigidly connected to each other by two nuts (6, 7; 18, 19; 20, 21). The portion of the receiving part (3) forming the abutment for the nuts (6, 7) or for intermediate members (6', 7'; 16, 17) is designed as a segment of a sphere or cylinder. The part with which said receiving part engages has a hollow spherical or hollow cylindrical surface concentric with the central axis of the nut or intermediate member.
Description
Posi ionierungsvorrichtung Positioning device
The invention relates to a positioning device for stabilizing spine segments, with a threaded shaft part and a receiving part for a rod provided on the head side, wherein the rod and the receiving part can be firmly connected to one another by two holding elements engaging on the receiving part. Devices of this type are used to stabilize the spine or to stabilize a placeholder between two adjacent vertebral bodies.
A positioning screw is known from DE-AS 26 49 042. The object of the invention is to provide a positioning device of the type described in the introduction, which facilitates insertion and at the same time also reduces or eliminates the dangers of later use.
This object is achieved by a positioning device of the type described in the introduction, which is solved by the features of the " characterizing part of patent claim 1.

The positioning device comprises a positioning screw 1 with a threaded shaft part 2 and a receiving part 3.
The receiving part 3 comprises a spherical head. This has a slot 4 which extends essentially perpendicular to the axis of the threaded shaft part 2. The slot receives a rod 5. The rod 5 is designed as a threaded rod. To fix the rod in the slot, two nuts 6, 7 are provided which, guided on the rod 5, engage the head from the outside.
The center plane of the slot coincides with the center of the spherical head. The slot extends by more than half a diameter of the rod beyond the center of the spherical head into the head, so that it is possible for the rod with its central axis around the center of the sphere in a desired angular range in the direction of the central plane of the Slit is pivotable.
The width of the slot 4 is larger than the diameter of the rod 5, so that it is possible to pivot the rod with its central axis around the center of the spherical head in a direction perpendicular to the first-mentioned pivot direction within a predetermined angular range .
As can best be seen from FIG. 2, in the first embodiment the nuts 6, 7 have abutment surfaces in the form of surfaces 8, 9 in the form of hollow spherical segments on their sides facing the spherical head. The radius of these surfaces is essentially the same as the radius of the spherical head, so that the nuts are in full contact with the wall of the spherical area. As can best be seen from FIG. 2, the nuts are designed such that their lower edge 10 is at a distance from the region of the threaded shaft part 2 adjoining them, so that pivoting of the rod 5 in the direction of arrow 11 around the center of the ball 12 does not occur is hindered.
The threaded shaft part 2 has at its end opposite the receiving part 3 a section 13 with a first diameter. This extends over most of the length of the threaded shaft part. A further threaded section with a larger diameter or larger thread extends between this section and the receiving part 3.
During operation, the positioning screw is first screwed into the vertebral body or a placeholder between two vertebral bodies. By providing the two sections 13 and 14 with threads of different strengths, the positioning screw is screwed in so tightly that it is no longer necessary to provide additional washers. The rod 5 is then inserted into the slot of the positioning screw and at the same time into the slots of the other positioning screws guiding the rod. Due to the described design of the slots, an alignment of the rod is also possible deviating from a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the threaded sheep part. The nuts 5, 7 are then tightened such that they rest on the receiving part in the manner shown in FIG. 2. The nuts are then tightened so tightly that a type of weld is formed with the areas of the receiving part that interact with it.
In the above description, the slot has a straight bottom. However, the slot bottom is preferred in the manner shown in the figures from the slot center in the longitudinal direction of the slot to the two outer ends 15, 16 lowered. Preferably, in the plane coinciding with the slot axis, the base essentially has a radius around a center point, which lies on the side opposite the center 12 of the spherical segment. It is thereby achieved that the rod 5 can be pivoted around the center 12 of the spherical segment by a relatively large angle.
In the first embodiment described above, the nuts engage directly on the receiving part. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the holding elements abutting the receiving part 3 are designed as disc-shaped intermediate pieces made of 6 ', 7' which can be moved back and forth on the rod 5 and which have nuts 20 on the respective side facing away from the receiving part 3 , 21 attack. The intermediate pieces 6 ', 7' each have the same shape on their side facing the receiving part 3 as the nuts described above. Instead of the inner thread, a bore 22, 23 is provided, the diameter of which is so large that it is possible to slide on the rod 5.
The inner surfaces of the intermediate pieces 6 ', 7' cooperating with the receiving part 3 are preferably roughened such that when the nuts 20, 21 are tightened, the locking position results in a cold welding between the intermediate pieces and the receiving part 3, a firm connection.
The operation is carried out in the same way as in the first embodiment.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 5 and 6, the receiving part 15 comprises a cylindrical head. This has a slot 4 which extends essentially perpendicular to the axis of the threaded shaft part 2. The slot takes turn the rod 5 on that. is designed as a threaded rod. To fix the rod, two intermediate links 16, 17 and nuts 18, 19 engaging on this are provided, which act on the rod 5 and act on the head from the outside.
The slot 4 extends in a plane which is substantially perpendicular to the cylinder axis of the cylindrical head. Otherwise, the design of the slot and its arrangement correspond to the embodiment described above.
The intermediate members 16, 17 have on their sides facing the cylindrical head abutment surfaces in the form of hollow cylindrical segments, the radius of curvature of which essentially corresponds to the radius of curvature of the adjacent cylindrical segment surfaces of the receiving part, so that the intermediate members on the wall of the respective cylindrical segment-shaped Sections of the Aufnähme rush 15 abut. The intermediate members 16, 17 have bores extending essentially through the center of the cylinder segment surfaces and perpendicular to the cylinder axis, the diameter of which is selected such that the intermediate members can be freely moved back and forth on the rod 5.
