- the support plate 22 is arranged obliquely above the roll 100 and directed substantially radially to this.
- the support plate 22 forms a .link mechanism substantially in the form of a parallelogram together with the support bracket 26, the second lever 56 and the link 24, the support plate 22 can perform movements towards and away from the shaft of the roll 100.
- the propulsion unit 20 arranged on the support plate 22 comprises an electric motor 27, a reduction gear 28 and a pair of frictional drive rolls 29 arranged on both sides of this intended to engage drivingly with the periphery surface of the roll 100.
- the reduction gear 28 supporting and being driven by the electric motor 27 is rigidly connected to the support plate 22 via a bracket 30.
- the drive rolls 29, 29 which are both connected with the output shaft (not shown) of the reduction gear 28 are disposed in recesses 32 of the support plate 22.
- the outer ends of the drive rolls 29 are mounted in bearing brackets 34 which are screwed onto the support plate 22.
- the burner unit 60 has a plurality of gas-driven burner nozzles 62 (Fig. 2) which are distributed with a suitable division on a burner pipe 64 arranged in front of the roll 100 and in parallel with the shaft thereof. Plates 66 with end sections 68 diverging towards the roll 100 are arranged on the burner pipe 54 to direct the gas streaming out of the nozzles 62 towards the roll 100. Between the burner unit 60 and the end sections 12 of the frame 10 metal nets not snown can be arranged which are intended to prevent the heat from the burner unit 60 from being concentrated through draft towards the central range of the roll 100.
- the burner pipe 64 is supported at its outer ends by a pair of elongate lateral supports movably arranged at the associated end sections 12, 12.
- the lateral supports 70, 70 have a rectangular cross-section and each thereof is movably mounted at an associated end section 12 by means of four support rolls 76.
- Each lateral support 70 is supported against the underlying surface via a wheel 72 and has an upper end stop 74.

- the piston rod 110 supports a rotatably mounted engaging means 112 not shown in detail having a conical engagement end 114 and an annular flange 116 arranged as stop surface.
- the piston rod 110 is provided with a piston 118 which is sealingly received in a cylindrical chamber 120 of a housing 122 connected with the end section 12.
- the piston is intended to be actuated by a gas pressure in a direction clamping the roll 100 via a channel 124 ending in the chamber 120.

- the outer end of the sheet wound onto the roll is about straight in front of the burner unit 60.
- the gas is permitted to stream into the burner unit 60 through shifting of the directional valve 160 from the closed position shown to the open position via for example the switch 150 which also actuates the propulsion unit for driving in forward direction or via a separate switch not shown.
- the piston of the piezoelectric igniter 164 (not shown) is also actuated by the gas pressure so that the igniter is activated and generates the spark igniting the outflowing gas.
- the restrictions or flow areas of the burner nozzles are so small that the gas pressure acting on the pistons 118 of the clamping units is not allowed to decrease to such an extent that the springs 128 can press back the piston rods 110 and consequently release the roll 100.
- the nozzles 62 of the burner unit are substantially directed towards the confines between the roll 100 and the underlying surface (Fig. 2) so that this is heated together with an adhesive layer plasticizable by heat (e.g. bitumen layer) on the outside of the sheet wound onto the roll 100. Accordingly, the sheet thus heated will adhere at contact with the underlying surface.
- the propulsion unit 20 is also started in a forward driving direction at operation of the switch 150 so that the frictional drive rolls 29 rotate anti-clockwise in Fig. 2 and provide this through the engagement with the periphery of the roll 100 with a rotational clockwise movement for unrolling the sheet adhering to the underlying surface according to the above.
- the pressure of the drive rolls 29 against the roll 100 is provided by the weight of the drive unit 20 and the normal force acting in dependence on the weight of the device from the underlying surface on the support wheels 40 and being passed on to the drive rolls
- the burner unit 60 is at a substantially constant distance from the heating area due to the fact that when the end sections 12 approach the underlying surface and the diameter of the roll 100 is reduced, the lateral supports 70 (Fig. 1) or 80 (Fig. 3) are moved upwards/rearwards to a corresponding extent by means of the wheels 72 (Fig. 1) and the power-transmitting mechanism described in connection with Fig. 3 and driven by the lever mechanism.
- the switch 144 With two positions is shifted so that the directional valve 152 (and also the directional valve 160) return to the position shown in Fig. 4.
- the supply of gas from the gas source 132 is then shut off so that the burner unit 60 is put out and the piston rods (110) of the clamping units 108 (I) and (II) are pressed back by the associated springs 128 when the gas pressure in the line 154 is reduced (ventilated through the directional valve 152).
- the remaining inner case 102 of the consumed roll 100 can thereafter be removed and optionally replaced with a new roll 100 in the way described above.
