Definitions

  • the present invention refers to a device in large food prepara ⁇ tion vessels or the like especially for large kitchens.
  • Food in large kitchens is often prepared in large kettles of a volume between 30 and 400 liters. Such kettles are usually pivotally mounted in fixed or mobile supports, so that they can be tilted either manually or by a motor.
  • the prepared food sometimes consists of viscous stews, porridge or the like while in other cases it is more liquid.
  • When cooking e.g. paste, potatoes and vegetables one will be able to strain off the water from the solid substance. In all these cases different types of means are required for facilitating the emptying of the vessel when this is tilted.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a device of the kind mentioned above, which by simple means provides a flexible system for facilitating emptying of the vessel with its content.
  • Fig. 1 shows in a view from above a vessel according to the invention.
  • Fig. 2-5 show in perspective vessels provided with different types of plates for facilitating emptying of the vessel.
  • Fig. 6 shows a schematic side view of a vessel to which an emptying device is connected.
  • Fig. 7 shows a schematic side view of a vessel in a tilted position and provided with a feeding-out device.
  • Fig. 8 shows a side view of a vessel provided with another variant of an emptying device.
  • Fig. 9 shows a section on a larger scale of the emptying device shown in fig. 8.
  • Fig. 10 is a section according to the line X-X in fig. 9.
  • Fig 11. is a section through a further variant of a feeding- out device.
  • the device according to the present invention is mainly intended to be applied to a conventional food preparation vessel 10 for large kitchens, said vessel being pivotally mounted in support boxes 11 via a horizontal pivot axle 12.
  • the vessel 10 has at the top in connection to opposite sides of its opening 13 a pair of guides 14, which converge towards the outer edge of the vessel 10.
  • These guides 14 has the shape of rails having a substantially L-shaped cross- section.
  • plates can be received provided with different types of means for facilitating emptying of the vessel 10.
  • the plate 15a shown in fig. 2 has a reducing spout 16 and is preferred to use when the content of the vessel consists of liquid substances which are emptied out of the vessel when this is tilted about the axle 11.
  • strainer plate 15b provided with strain holes 17 through which e.g. the water from cooked potatoes, vegetables etc. can be strained off.
  • the strainer plate 15b is also provided with an upwards directed rear edge 18 for facilitating gripping of the plate.
  • a plate 15c is inserted into the guides, said plate having a narrow front edge extending before the front edge of the guides 14 and from a spout 19 which facilitates pouring of liquid substances.
  • the plate 15d has hole 20.
  • the plate 15e shown in fig. 5 has an opening provided with a pip socket 21, to which a hose 22 or the like can be connected (fig. 6 and 7), through which the vessel 10 is emptied by being tilte about the axle 11 or by means of a pump or other feeding-ou device.
  • a screw feeder 23 intended to feed viscous and semi-solid substances such as porridge, stews, mashed potatoes etc.
  • the screw feeder 23 and a driving unit for it are carried by the plate located in the guides 14.
  • Figs. 8-10 show another type of a feeding-out device comprising a belt feeder 24 with a plurality of flexible protrusions 25 of e.g. rubber, arranged at a certain distance from each other.
  • the belt 24 runs about a pair of rollers 27 and 28 rotatably mounted in a pair of opposite plates 26a and b.
  • One roller 27 is driven by a driving unit 29, which together with the belt feeder is carried by a plate insertable in the guides 14.
  • the plate is also provided with an outfeed funnel 30 with an outfeed opening 30a.
  • the rollers 27 and 28 are mounted in a fork-shaped member 31 and 32 each, which are fixed against each other by means of a clamping means 33 permitting a limited displacement of the fork- shaped member 31 and 32 with respect to each other. By that the tension of the belt 24 can be adjusted.
  • the plates 26a and b is provided with a hinge 34a and b each so that the portion 35a and b resp. of the plates to which the roller 28 is mounted can be extended, at which the entire belt feeder is accessible for e.g. cleaning.
  • the feeding-out device 35 shown in fig. 11 is placed in the outfeed funnel 30 and rotatably mounted therein. It has also flexible protrusions 36, which provides a feeding out of the substance through the funnel 30 in a corresponding way as the belt feeder 24.
