Description
Holder for sheets of paper
The invention relates to a holder for sheets of paper comprising a frame section to be fastened to a supporting surface, preferably to the outer surface of a display terminal, and arranged to turn around a. substantially vertical axis, to which frame section sheets of paper are arranged to be fastened by means of a fastening element. Such paper holders are very known nowadays, es¬ pecially when working with a display terminal. As an example of solutions known in this field, a device can be mentioned, which is formed of a plate-like frame section arranged to be fastened at its one edge to a side of a display terminal so that it can be turned around a vertical axis . Sheets of paper are fastened to the plate-like frame section by means of one or several magnet buttons .
A drawback of this known solution is its big size and the weightiness of the structure. On account of the big size, it is clumsy to use. Moreover, for the use of this device, both ' hands are continuously needed to detach, turn and refasten pages of the paper. In addition, this device is not suitable for papers of different sizes, because the size of the plate-like frame section is chosen according to a cer¬ tain size of paper, e.g. A4 or A5.
Another holder is known in this field, which holder is to be supported on the upper surface of a terminal and is formed of a fully stiff frame section, to which sheets of paper are fastened by means of a suitable fastening element. The weakness of this known device is that the position of the paper can be changed only by changing the position of the frame section. Moreover, both hands are continuously needed
to detach, turn and refasten the paper also in connec¬ tion with this device.
The object of the invention is to provide such a holder for sheets of paper by means of which the drawbacks of the previously known technique can be eliminated. This has been reached by means of the holder of the invention, characterized in that the frame section is formed of an arm to be placed in a substantially horizontal position, at one end of which there is a connection piece for fastening to the sup¬ porting surface, and that the arm is turnably fastened to the connection piece so that the arm can turn around its longitudinal axis and that the fastening element is a clip turnably fastened to the arm, the swiveling axis of which is substantially vertical to the longitudinal axis of the arm.
The advantage of the invention consists in the first place of the ergonomic benefits to be reached by means thereof, because pages of the paper can be turned, facts on the verso can be read etc. by using one hand without detaching the paper. Moreover, the device of the invention is very simple, so that the manufacturing and operating costs remain low. The holder of the invention is also very flexible in use, because it can be used in connection with papers of different sizes, and additionally, the holder can be placed on whichever side of the terminal.
In the following, ;the invention will be ex¬ plained more accurately by means of a preferable em- bodiment shown in the drawing, in which
Figure 1 shows a holder according to the inven¬ tion mounted to a display terminal,
Figure 2 shows a side view of the unit of Figure 1 and Figure 3 shows a view of the holder of the in-
vention on a larger scale in the direction of the arm. In the figures, the reference numeral 1 gene¬ rally indicates a display terminal placed to support on a table 2. The holder for sheets of paper according to the invention comprises an arm 3 to be placed in a sub¬ stantially horizontal position. The arm 3 is fastened to a supporting surface, e.g. to a side of the display terminal 1 by means of a connection piece 4 fastened to one end of the arm 3. The connection piece 4 can be fastened to the display terminal 1 in any suitable way, for example by means of adhesive fastening.
The arm 3 is fastened to the connection piece 4 so that the arm can be turned around a vertical axis as shown in Figure 1 by means of the arrow A. The arm 3 is additionally fastened to the connection piece 4 so that the arm can be turned around its longitudinal axis in whichever direction. This turning movement is shown in Figure 1 by means of the arrow B. To fasten sheets of paper 5, the holder is pro¬ vided with a clip ' 6, which is fastened to the arm 3 and arranged to turn around an axis substantially ver¬ tical relative to the longitudinal axis of the arm. In the figure, the longitudinal axis of the arm (movement B) is in a horizontal position and the swiveling axis of the clip (movement C) is in a vertical position. Consequently, the turning movement of this clip is shown by means of the arrow C, e.g. in Figure 1. In the embodiment of the figures, the clip 6 is fastened to the arm 3 by means of an axle 7 extending through the arm. The arm 3 is then provided with a bore hole for the axle 7.
The advantage of this structure is that the clip operating as fastening element of the paper can be turned 360° (direction C), whereby both sides of
the paper can be read without detaching the paper. The possibility to turn the axle (direction B) makes it possible to turn up the pages read as shown in Figure
2. Broken lines in Figure 2 show the position of the clip 6 when pages are turned. As to the turning move¬ ment of the arm, the arm shall preferably remain in its place in all positions (e.g. the position shown with broken lines in Figure 2) . This operation can be provided by arranging a suitable friction between the arm" and the connection piece. A suitable friction can be provided e.g. by means of a spring loading. The possibility to turn the arm (direction A) makes it possible to place the sheets of paper into a suitable angle relative to a monitor. Then, too, the arm remains in a suitable position by means of e.g. frictio .
The clip 6~according to the invention has pre¬ ferably two sets of opening ribs 8a, 9a and 8b, and 9b, on opposite sides and arranged in a substantially horizontal position, whereby they do not disturb when pages of the paper are turned over the arm 3. The opening ribs are clearly seen from the Figures 2 and
3. An additional advantage of the opening ribs situ¬ ated on both sides is that the paper can always be de- tached without turning the clip. A compression move¬ ment needed for detaching the paper is indicated by means of the arrows D and E in Figure 3. It is evident that the clip needs to be pressed only at one set of the opening ribs when detaching the paptr. The fastening point between the clip 6 and. the arm 3 can be made adjustable according to different sizes of paper. The adjustment can be realized for ex¬ ample by boring several holes in the arm for the axle 7. The holes can then be arranged parallel with the longitudinal axis of the arm at a distance from each
other so that papers of different sizes can be sus¬ pended in the manner described in claim 1.
In the embodiment of the figures, the clip 6 is arranged to be turned in the direction C by means of a 5 roughened knurled-head screw 10 being an extension of the fastening axle 7. In order to be able to turn the arm 3 in the embodiment of the figures, the free end of the arm 3 is provided with a roughening 11, which is seized and turned so that the arm can be turned in
10 the direction B.
The embodiment described above is by no means intended to limit the invention, but the invention can be modified within the scope of the claims in many different ways. Thus, it is clear that the holder of
15. the invention or its parts do not necessarily need to be just as shown in the figures, but solutions of another kind are also possible. The holder can be fas¬ tened to the supporting surface according to any prin¬ ciple known as such and the supporting surface can be
20 any surface, for example a wall. The appearance of the clip can be chosen otherwise, too, if it is found necessary. Knurled-head screws and roughenings are not quite necessary either, but the device can be car¬ ried out without these details, too. The device ac- 5 cording to the invention can naturally be used in con¬ nection with any papers so that the term sheets of paper means in this connection all sheets of paper, prescriptions, printouts etc.
