Abstract
An ignition device for an internal-combustion engine discharges the electrical energy of piezoelectric elements built into a distributor to spark plugs. A piezoelectric element (2) in the distributor is struck by a hammer (4) synchronized with the rotation of the engine, thereby generating electrical energy and discharging a spark plug. Since no electrical energy of a battery is used, electric discharge can be performed by the spark plug even when a self-starting motor is being operated.
