Abstract

By way of a fitting shaped as an angle bracket having one leg (1) provided with holes for nails or screws (2) and another leg designed as a holding support (5) in which a gutter bracket (6) can be displaced and firmly locked in a desired position, the mounting of gutters on existing buildings not previously provided with gutters is rendered possible. It will not be necessary to remove or nail through the roof covering.

Description

FITTING FOR MOUNTING OF GUTTER BRACKETS
The invention relates to a fitting intended for the mounting of gutter brackets, especially in case of supplementary mounting of gutters on existing buildings not previously provided with gutters.
In order to allow supplementary mounting of ordinary gutter brackets the lowest section of the roof covering must be removed or nailed through. To dismount, and after fastening of the gutter brackets, to restore the roof covering is a complicated and time-consuming process, and furthermore by fastening with nails hammered through the covering, the roof will leak through the nail holes.
To avoid these problems could be used sideways facing gutter brackets nailed to one side of the rafters. In this manner, however, the intervals between the gutter brackets will be determined by the distance between the rafters, implying that the distance between two neighbouring gutter brackets in many cases will be too great.
Alternatively could be used cantilever gutter brackets, which from in front can be nailed firmly onto a vertical surface. Usually, however, the distance between the available surface on which the gutter brackets should be fastened and the eaves will not conform to the length of the cantilever gutter brackets. In the said case a wide assortment of differently dimensioned brackets must be available, as other wise the use of unsightly distance blocks must be resorted to.
The gutter will moreover in the described case have to follow the lowest purlin or lath supporting the cantilever gutter brackets, and as these supports not always being perfectly straight, the mounted gutter will appear out of style.
The object of the present invention is to devise a fitting allowing the mounting of ordinary gutter brackets on existing buildings without incurring the aforesaid inconveniences. This is according to the invention achieved in that the fitting constitutes an angle bracket, one leg of which is provided with holes for nails or screws, and with the other leg designed with or acting as a holding support, in which a gutter bracket can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the said leg. and having a blocking device by which the gutter bracket can be locked firmly in any position in the holding device.
When the fitting by means of nails or screws has been fastened to a purlin, a lath or possibly a board at the eaves, the gutter bracket is inserted into the holder, and it can by displacement in the holder be regulated in e.g. along a stretched spring. Hereafter the gutter bracket is locked firmly in the desired position.
It is according to the invention advantageous that tbe blocking device constitutes a revolvable disc suspended eccentrically on the afore mentioned leg, being dimensioned and positioned so as to be turned to rest against the gutter bracket situated in the holder. The disc is direct accessible from the front of the fitting and will, when turned with adequate force, safely fasten the gutter bracket. The disc may e.g. be provided with diametrically situated notches in the edge, intended for the two jaws of e.g. a pair of cutting nippers used as auxilliary tool during the tightening process.
In the following the invention will be explained in detail in relation to the drawing in which
Fig 1 shows a gutter bracket mounted with a fitting according to the invention, seen from one side, and
Fig 2 shows the fitting seen from above.
The fitting constitutes, as it appears from the drawing, an angle bracket. In one of its legs 1 is found a number of holes 2 for nails or screws, by which the fitting is fastened to e.g. a lath 3 by the eaves 4. The other leg is designed to form a holder 5 or provided with a clamp, in which a gutter bracket 6 can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the said leg. On the leg 1 provided with the holes 2 is an eccentrically suspended revolvable disc 7. The said disc 7 is so dimensioned and positioned relative to the edge between the two legs that the disc can turn to rest against the gutter bracket 6 and thereby keep the latter firmly fastened in relation to the fitting.
