Abstract

Systeme de retenue et de protection des occupants du siege avant d'une voiture automobile contre les blessures resultant d'une collision, dans lequel un sac dilatable (35) est emmagasine en position pliee inoperante dans un compartiment (44) sous la partie inferieure du toit du vehicule et surmontant en general les genoux du conducteur et des passagers. Une paire de bras allonges (51, 52) sont montes de facon pivotante dans le vehicule pour bouger entre une position inoperante inclinee vers le haut adjacente entre les montants du pare-brise (53, 54) et une position de fonctionnement inclinee vers le bas adjacente aux parties interieures des portes de cotes (21, 22). Les extremites distales (55) des bras sont reliees au sac dilatable (35) et servent a retirer et a deplier rapidement ce sac de son compartiment de stockage lorsque le systeme est mis en action. Apres que le sac (35) ait ete deplie et deploye, du fluide sous pression est fourni a une paire de compartiments lateralement espaces (37, 38) dans ce sac au travers de conduits (131, 132) dans les bras. Un compartiment central (39) du sac se gonfle d'air a pression atmospherique par suite du gonflement des compartiments lateralement espaces.
