Specification forming. part of Letters Patent No. 149,077, dated-March 31, 187 i; reissue No. 5,976. dated July 21,1874; application filed May 19, 1874.
To altwhom itmmy co-ncermf Be it known that I, GOITLOB' STEINEMANN, of-the city of J oliet, inWill county'a-nd State ot'1llinois-,have invented a certain Compound called Composition Roofing, of which the following is a specification:
i This invention relates to the use and combination of certain ingredients combined 11] the proportions and manner hereinafter described, for the purpose of making a compo-' sition roofing for buildings, 85c.
In order to accomplish the result of making sziid roofing, I use coal-tar, sulphur, brown send, resin, vitriol, bees-wax, and-cement.
To enableo'th ers' to make this roofing, I take -si-'x gallonsof'coal-tar, four pounds of resin,
four poundsof vitriol, four pounds of sulphur,- and two pounds of bees-wax. After the seine are boiled down together Indd oneba-rrel of common sandand one peek of common ceclaim as new, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:
