The confronting or adjacent ends of the sections A and C are formed as follows and as illustrated in Figure 3. The section A is formed with a slot 19 corresponding in a way to the slot 10, but the opposite Walls 2O of this slot are preferabl f beveled reversely'to the walls 11 of the slot 10 and are at anangle of about ten degrees. It will be obvious that it is very easf,T to apply this collapsible iim to a new tire, o-r to a tire which would ordinarily be so tight as would make it difficult to apply the usual rim. Furthermore, 'it will not be necessary to use tire tools for the purpose of forcing the tire onto a rim, and thus a vsaving in tires will be effected. Furthermore, it is o-fte'n the case that a tire ruste on a rim and in that case it is extremely :diicult to yforce'the tire oil' of the rim, Whereas no difficulty of' this kind is experienced withthis Vcollapsible cut,'as at '23:,and consequently, whenthe =is Abroken at this'v point to remove the' rim from the tire, the tendency will be to retract to asmaller circle. Another function of the cam ory locking device 25 is to hold the keyor lug 22 in its' seatI when the ltire -is deflated, asffor instance, When the tire is punctured. Without this locking device 25 there would be danger that the rnn sections might'jar apart with While the'sections B and C of thefrini are 'illustrated as being shorter than thei section .126 the tire deated :and fall from thefstire."
A, it is to be understood that :they might all t be ofthe samesizel4 n isfnot desired a) lima the inventif-mim any particular formation of the rim for en gage'ment with, the tire, as thenieanswhere- 'by the rim may be collapsed or the rim seotions held in engagement with each other may be applied equally Well either to a straight sided tire or a tire of the clenoher typ-.
