Abstract

A new and distinct variety of Floribunda rose plant is provided which abundantly forms on a substantially continuous basis attractive blossoms that are Orient Pink suffused with Aureolin Yellow on the upper surface and Dawn Pink suffused with Aureolin Yellow on the under surface. Such blossoms additionally display a vervain lemon-scented fragrance. The foliage is dark green and exhibits a glossy upper surface that contrasts well with the light-colored blossoms. The plant exhibits a vigorous, compact and bushy growth habit. The new variety is well suited for growing as attractive ornamentation in the landscape.

Description

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The new variety of Floribunda rose plant was created by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics. The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) of the new variety was the `Flamingo` variety (non-patented in the United States). The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) of the new variety was the product of the pollination of the `Meihartfo` variety (non-patented in the United States) and the `Tip Top` variety (non- patented in the United States). The `Meihartfo` variety sometimes is known as the, `Pink Wonder` variety and the `Tip Top` variety sometimes is known as the `Baby Doll` variety. The parentage of the new variety can be summarized as follows:
`Flamingo`×(`Meihartfo`×`Tip Top`).
The seeds resulting from the above pollination were sown and small plants were obtained which were physically and biologically different from each other. Selective study resulted in the identification of a single of the new variety.
It was found that the new variety of Floribunda rose plant of the present invention possesses the following combination of characteristics:
(a) forms in abundance on a substantially continouous basis attractive fragrant blossoms that are light Orient Pink suffused with Aureolin Yellow on the upper surface and Dawn Pink suffused with Aureolin Yellow on the under surface,
(b) forms attractive vigorous dark green foliage having a glossy upper surface,
(c) exhibits a vigorous, compact and bushy growth habit,
(d) exhibits a particularly good disease resistance against black spot, and
(e) is well suited for growing as attractive ornamentation in the landscape.
As demonstrated in France, the new variety undergoes asexual propagation by a number of routes, including budding, grafting, cuttage, etc. The characteristics of the new variety have been found to be strictly transmissible by such asexual propagation from one generation to another in France.
The new variety has been named the `Meioffic` variety.
