Abstract

A new and distinct rose plant of small compact size particularly adapted for culture in a 4 in. pot and distinguished by its continuous and profuse production of small red-margined flowers carried on strong upright stems at a height of about 13 cm. from the last flower cut, the plant itself being a round compact bush having a free branching growth habit with small but abundant foliage.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
This new rose plant originated as a seedling hybrid resulting from the crossing of an unknown seedling with pollen from a plant named `Scarlet Sunblaze` (unpatented) at my nursery at Watsonville, Calif. This particular seedling having been selected by me for propagation because of its vigorous growth habit, small compact size and profuse production of well balanced flowers of a pleasing color and propagation was done by met at Watsonville by means of cuttings with such pleasing success that such propagation was continued through several successive generations at Watsonville which demonstrated conclusively that the novel characteristics of this plant would hold true from generation to generation and appeared to be firmly fixed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
This new pot rose plant is illustrated by the accompanying full color photographic drawings of which the right hand view shows a mature potted plant of this variety illustrating buds and flowers in a full range of development from unopened bud to a fully developed bloom; and the left hand view shows the various parts of the flowering plant from unopened bud to a face view of a mature flower and including parts of the foliage, the color rendition of both the right and left hand drawing views being as nearly true to that herein specified as is possible to obtain by conventional photographic procedures.
