Abstract

A new and distinct miniature rose plant specially adapted for pot plant culture and particularly distinguished by its continuous and profusely blooming habit extending from early Spring through mid-season to late Fall on a small compact bush which reaches a height of about 20 cm. in the course of twelve weeks of growth in a 4 in. pot. This plant is free branching and blooms the year around under greenhouse conditions. This plant has abundant foliage and a vigorous, strong and upright growth habit.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
This miniature rose plant originated as a seedling of a hybrid produced by me at my nursery at Watsonville, Calif., as a result of my crossing the variety `Scarlet Sunblaze` with pollen of a unnamed seedling selected from rose plants maintained at my nursery for breeding purposes. The present seedling was selected for propagation because of its profuse production of relatively large blooms on a plant of ideal size for pot plant culture. Propagation of this selected seedling was done by me at Watsonville by means of cuttings and successive generations of this plant, all retaining the distinctive characteristics of the original seedling have demonstrated that the novel characteristics hold true and appeared to be firmly fixed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
My new miniature rose plant is illustrated by the accompanying photographic drawings which, in full color, show the novel characteristics of this plant,
FIG. 1 showing the top and bottom sides of a typical leaf and a series of buds in several stages of development terminating in a face view of a mature blossom; and
FIG. 2 is an elevational view of my miniature rose plant in full bloom and grown as a pot plant, the color rendition being as nearly true to that herein specified as is reasonably possible to obtain by conventional photographic procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW VARIETY
The following is a detailed description of my new miniature rose plant based upon observation of plants grown in greenhouse as well as out of doors at my Watsonville nursery, the color designations specified herein being according to the R.H.S.
