Abstract

A new and distinct variety of Floribunda rose plant is provided which abundantly and continuously forms attractive long lasting large very double bicolor blossoms. The blossoms are strawberry red with a lemon base on the inside and are lemon yellow tinted with turkey red on the outside. The plant is bushy and exhibits vigorous vegetation. The new variety is particularly well suited for the decoration of parks and gardens. Good resistance to cryptogamic diseases also is exhibited.

Description

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The new variety of Floribunda rose plant was created by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics. The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) of the new variety was the Liberty Bell variety (nonpatented in the United States). The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) of the new variety was the Kagayaki variety (nonpatented in the United States). The parentage of the new variety can be summarized as follows:
Liberty Bell×Kagayaki.
The seeds resulting from the above pollination were sown and several small plants were obtained which were physically and biologically different from each other. Selective study resulted in the identification of a single plant of the new variety.
The new variety meets well the needs of the horticultural industry for all uses, and is particularly well suited for growing in parks and gardens. Well balanced plants are formed which are also well adapted for growing in containers.
It was found that the new variety of Floribunda rose plant of the present invention possesses the following combination of characteristics:
(a) forms attractive long lasting bicolor very double blossoms which are strawberry red with a lemon base on the inside and are lemon yellow tinted with turkey red on the outside,
(b) is particularly well suited for the decoration of parks and gardens, and
(c) exhibits a vigorous bushy growth habit.
The new variety undergoes asexual propagation by all routes, including budding, grafting, cuttage, etc. The characteristics of the new variety have been found to be strictly transmissible by such asexual propagation from one generation to another.
The new variety has been named the Kiboh variety.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PHOTOGRAPH
The accompanying photograph shows as nearly true as it is reasonably possible to make the same, in a color illustration of this character, typical specimens of the plant parts of the new variety. The rose plants of the new variety were two years of age and observed during September while budded on Rose froebelli understock and growing outdoors at LeCannet-des-Maures, Var, France.
