Description
This new carnation cultivar originated as a sport of the unpatented variety `Stanti` at Aalsmeer, Holland, and was selected by me for propagation and test because of the very large size and bright red coloration of its blooms. This plant was propagated by me and under my direction at Aalsmeer, by means of cuttings through several successive generations, which demonstrated that the novel and distinctive characteristics of this plant would hold true from generation to generation and appeared to be firmly fixed.
This new carnation plant is illustrated by the accompanying photographic drawing which shows, in full color, a three-quarter face view of a typical flower illustrating the dense character of its mass of petals and its solid overall coloration, the colors shown being as nearly true to those specified herein as is reasonably possible to obtain by conventional photographic procedures.
The following is a detailed description of my new carnation variety based upon observation of greenhouse grown plants made at Aalsmeer, Holland, the color designations being specified herein according to the R.H.S. Colour Chart published by The Royal Horticultural Society of London, England.
