  • This new alstroemeria cultivar originated as a seedling resulting from my crossing of selected and individually identified plants maintained in greenhouse at Aalsmeer, Holland, for breeding and developmental purposes. This particular seedling was selected by me because of the very attractive red-purple coloration of its blooms, its profuse production of blooms and its apparent very fast and vigorous growth habit and I reproduced this plant at Aalsmeer through root division with very favorable results. Subsequently I carried that propagation through several generations, thereby determining that the novel characteristics of coloration and growth habit of this new plant would remain true from generation to generation and appeared to be firmly fixed.

Abstract

A new and distinct alstroemeria cultivar particularly distinguished by the generally light red-purple coloration of its very large flowers, the petals of which have a rhodamine purple body color overcase by a longitudinally extending central portion of a darker roseine purple color which presents a very unusual variegated color display. This new plant is further distinguished by its continuous and profuse blooming habit, its vigorous, strong and upright growth and by the excellent lasting quality of its blooms both on the plant and as cut flowers.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This new alstroemeria cultivar originated as a seedling resulting from my crossing of selected and individually identified plants maintained in greenhouse at Aalsmeer, Holland, for breeding and developmental purposes.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
My new alstroemeria cultivar is illustrated by the accompanying full color photographic drawing which shows a full umbel of the inflorescence with buds and flowers in various stages of opening, the color rendition being as nearly true to those specified as is reasonably possible to obtain by conventional photographic procedures.
