Int. Cl. A0111 /00 US. Cl. Plt.74 1 Claim The present invention comprises a new and distinct cultivar of chrysanthemum plant known by the varietal name Dixie which is a seedling which is a seedling of the cultivar Dramatic #675864. The cultivar Dramatic is disclosed and claimed in US. Plant Patent 3,189, and the other parent is identified for breeding purposes by the above breeding number.
The new cultivar is similar in many respects to the cultivar Dramatic, having the same characteristics of:
1. Bronze daisy for disbud pot usage.
2. Year round period of value as a disbud pot.
3. Requires short treatment for late winter and spring flowering.
The new cultivar is distinguished from Dramatic by the following characteristics when grown under comparable conditions:
1. Approximately /i larger flower size.
2. One week later response.
3. Requires short treatment for later winter and spring flowering.
4. Improved response to growth regulators.
5. Shorter and more spreading growth habit.
6. Improved form retention which provides greater bench life and home life.

7. An orange-bronze rather than a golden bronze to yellow flower color.
The new cultivar was selected from the progeny of the designated cross and when asexually reproduced by cuttings at Barberton, Ohio, has been found to retain its distinctive characteristics through successive propagations.
The new cultivar when grown in the vicinity of Barberton, Ohio, has a response period of approximately 9 weeks, and the following detailed description is based on observations made of the new cultivar in a greenhouse in Barberton, Ohio. The response time, blooming period, color, and total vigor may vary significantly with varying environmental conditions such as temperature, day length, and light intensity. Suggested flowering in the northern and western United States is from January through December; coastal California, January through December; and Florida, December through April.
The accompanying photographic drawings show the unique characteristics of the new cultivar, with sheet 1 comprising a color photograph of the new cultivar as a spray pot, and sheet 2 comprising a black and white photograph showing the general growth habit and flower form of the new cultivar when grown as a disbudded pot.
In the following description, color references are made to the Munsell Color Book, 1963 edition, and comparisons are made to the cultivar Dramatic. Where only a single value or description appears for the new cultivar, the same value or description applies as well to the cultivar Dramatic.
