Abstract

A new Pelargonium plant particularly distinguished by purple flowers with a light flower center with dark purple red veins; no leaf zonation; and medium vigor, is disclosed.

Description

Genus and species: Pelargonium interpeltatum.
Variety denomination: ‘KLEIP23785’.
BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Pelargonium, botanically known as Pelargonium interpeltatum and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEIP23785’. ‘KLEIP23785’ originated from a controlled cross in August 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya between the proprietary female Pelargonium variety ‘PIP-2015-5426’ (unpatented) and the proprietary male Pelargonium variety ‘PZ-2016-6208’ (unpatented).
Seeds from the controlled-cross were obtained. The seeds were sown and plants were grown for evaluation. A single plant was selected in June 2019 and subsequently named ‘KLEIP23785’. In July 2019 ‘KLEIP23785’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLEIP23785’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation via stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany.
SUMMARY
The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of this new variety when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.
    • 1. Purple flowers with a light flower center with dark, purple-red veins;
    • 2. No leaf zonation; and
    • 3. Medium vigor.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPH
This new Pelargonium plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph which shows an overall view of the plant in a pot. The photograph is of an approximately 20-week-old plant grown outdoors in Stuttgart, Germany, in August 2022. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW VARIETY
The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEIP23785’. Data was collected on 15-week-old plants in Stuttgart, Germany, under greenhouse conditions in February 2024. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
