Abstract

A new Erysimum plant named ‘ERFZ0006’ particularly distinguished by the orange purple flower color with a yellowish edge, large flowers, nice green foliage color, rounded and branched plant habit and is quite early to flower.

Description

Latin name of the genus and species of the plant claimed: Erysimum linifolium.
Varietal denomination: ‘ERFZ0006’.
BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
The present invention comprises a new Erysimum, botanically known as Erysimum linifolium, and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘ERFZ0006’.
‘ERFZ0006’ is a product of a planned breeding program. The new cultivar ‘ERFZ0006’ has an orange purple flower color, with a yellowish edge, grey green foliage color, rounded and semi-erect plant habit with good branching, and is early to flower.
‘ERFZ0006’ originates from a hybridization made in a greenhouse in April 2014 in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands. The female parent was a proprietary plant identified as ‘Q1116-52’, unpatented, with yellow flower color, fewer branches, and overall smaller size than that of ‘ERFZ0006’.
The male parent of ‘ERFZ0006’ is an unknown plant from the whole population of Erysimum. The resultant seed was sown in September 2014 in a greenhouse in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
‘ERFZ0006’ was selected as one flowering plant within the progeny of the stated cross in March 2015 in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
The first act of asexual reproduction of ‘ERFZ0006’ was accomplished when vegetative cuttings were propagated from the initial selection in May 2015 in a controlled environment in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION
Horticultural examination of plants grown from cuttings of the plant initiated in May 2015 in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands, and continuing thereafter, has demonstrated that the combination of characteristics as herein disclosed for ‘ERFZ0006’ are firmly fixed and are retained through successive generations of asexual reproduction.
‘ERFZ0006’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. The phenotype may vary significantly with variations in environment such as temperature, light intensity, and day length.
A Plant Breeder's Right for this cultivar has not yet been applied for. ‘ERFZ0006’ has not been made publicly available prior to the effective filing date of this application, notwithstanding any disclosure that may have been made less than one year prior to the effective filing date of this application by the inventor or another who obtained ‘ERFZ0006’ directly from the inventor.
The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be basic characteristics of the new variety. The combination of these characteristics distinguishes this Erysimum as a new and distinct variety
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS
The accompanying photographic drawings show typical flower and foliage characteristics of ‘ERFZ0006’ with colors being as true as possible with an illustration of this type. The photographic drawings show in FIG. 1 a flowering plant of the new variety and in FIG. 2 a close-up of a flower and buds.
DETAILED BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION
The plant descriptions, measurements and aforementioned photographs were taken in Andijk, The Netherlands in March 2018 under natural light. These plants were growing in an indoor trial under natural light in Andijk, The Netherlands. The plants were about 18 weeks of age.
