- Nonpareil The primary difference between the new variety and the female parent ‘Nonpareil’ (unpatented) is the new variety has a semihard shell and large kernel, whereas ‘Nonpareil’ (unpatented) is papershell with medium size kernel. In comparison to its male parent ‘Lauranne’ (unpatented), the new variety blooms earlier by about 5-7 days, has larger fruit, and is self-sterile.
