CAR WHEEL.
licutio filed Inn. 26, 1901 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WVILLIAM B. BRAYTON, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE STANDARD OAR WHEEL COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CAR-WHEEL.
SIEGIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,108, dated February 19, 1901.
Application filed January 26, 1901. Serial No. 44,950. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM B. BRAYTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Car-Wheel, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the drawings which clearly illustrate my design, Figure 1 is an inner side elevation of the car-wheel. Fig. 2 is a transverse section thereof on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an outer side elevation; and Fig. 4 is asection across one of the spokes, being on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of a wheelhaving a rim, a hub, and a connectingweb, which latter includes curved channelshaped or flanged spokes extending from the hub to the rim, there being further portions of the web between these spokes on the inner periphery of the rim. Between the flanges, along the edges of adjacent spokes, are openings through the web of an approximately crescent shape, which openings are bounded by the spoke-flanges and the web at the rim.
Referring to the parts by letters, A represents the rim, and B the hub. That portion of the web which constitutes the body of the spokes is designated 0, the spoke-flanges c, the portion of the web between the spokes at the rim c and the crescent-like openings 0 Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a car-wheel, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM B. BRAYTON.
Witnesses:
ALBERT H. BATES, H. M. WISE.
