{Application filed June 27,
FIG. 2.
R N E V W 5 HUM/24m,
ESSES: )m! A UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM J. KENT, (ll NEXV YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR A HOOF-PAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,089, dated August 14, 1900.
Application filCll June 27,1900. Serial No. 21,851. Term of patent 14 years.
To (LZZ whom it may concern.-
13o itknown that 1, WILLIAM J. Ken, :1 ei l izen of the United States, residing in the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented and produced acertain new and original Dcsign for alloof-lad, of which the following is a specification.
This design relates to hoof-pads for horses, nd pertains particularly to articles of this character which are known as bar-pads.
The new design relates to the shape and surface ornamentation of the pad.
My present design is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an obverse or bottom face view of a bar-pad embodying the new design, and Fig. 2 is a reverse or top face view thereof.
Referring to the drawings, let A indicate the obverse face and 13 the reverse face of a bar-pad.
C is the rear end; I), the front end. E is the thin portion, and F is the outline or edge of the pad.
A distinctive feature of my new design is the tapering convex protuberance G on the obverse side of the pad, which projects outwardly and downwardly and has its widest portion at the heel end of the pad, tapering to a rounded small end toward the trout of the pad and terminating near the middle thereof. This is are-shaped in its longitudinal section and projects downwardly from the bottom face H of the heel and then recedes upwardly to meet the portion E at its front a. The sides 0 of the protuberance extend upwardly in acute curves and angles. The bottom i'ace II of the heel isol less downward projection than the protuberance G, and at each side of the latter the pad has up wardly cxtendinn curved walls 1, mergingupwardly and forwardly nniil they meet the portion it. The protuberance G has a surface composed ol a plurality of longitudinally-extending tapering, projections and intermediate recesses c. it is bordered on its front side by a band f, corresponding in contour to the front end a of the protuberance and having outwardly-curving portions g; at
its extremities where it meets the walls 1'. The remaindcrol' the obverse face is flat and smooth.
Another distinctive feature is that the reverse or top face of the pad is a plain face and has a central coneavii vl, disposed opposite the protuberance G, which concavity is of approximatclytriangular outline, having rear wall It, ct'nivergiup side walls 1', and cornersj.
The new design is of distinctive shape and pleasing appearance.
What I claim is- The design for a hoof-pad, substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM J. Kl lfl'l.
