DESIGN FOR A TOOL-HANDLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,231, dated February 1, 1898. Application filed December 3, 1897. Serial No. 660,707. Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that I, J AMES SWAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seymour, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for To0l-I-Iandles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, in which the figure represents an elevation of a tool-handle embodying my design.

The leading feature of my design consists of a tool-handle having the surface of its grip: ping portion provided with concaved spiral grooves parallel with each other and oblique to the axis of the handle, the relatively high portions between the grooves following the circumferential curvature of the handle, irnparting to said gripping portion the appearanee of a spirally-grooved roll.
