Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. My invention relates to the ornamentation of book and album covers; and it Consists in the novel form or eonguration of a mounting to be applied to suoli exterior covers, substantially as shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 shows one of the monntings applied to a plush album-eover, amirror, for illustration, being shown as held in place on the Cover ofthe book within or beneath the in- Wardly-projeetingor flanged edges of the open center of the mounting. Fig. 2 is a section on the line d IJ of Fig. 1, showing the form or configuration of the open eenterof the mount` ing and its relation to the mirror or other ornamental device held down thereby ou the book-cover.
The design consists more partieularlyin the general outline shape of the mounting, the
form of which is the general shape of an open fan with aeentral open portion or panel. The inner edge of said mounting is hanged, the flanges projecting inwardly and slightly npward in a plane above the exterior portions that rest on the book-cover, in order that the beveled edges of the mirror or other ornamental device to beheld on the book-cover may be maintained in position beneath sueh flanges and within the open center of the mounting.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the inwardly-projecting and slightly-upturned flanges, B the lat portion resting against the book-Cover, and C the bevel-edged mirror or other ornament held in place thereby on the book-cover.
