@he Schwule rtemh tu in tlgrsc Enters ntent :mh making part nf the sami.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, DAYTON MORGAN, of the city of Chillicothe, county of Ross, and State of Ohio, have originated and designed a Monument for Union Soldiers who died or were killed while in the service of the United States, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accon|- panying drawings, making part of this specification.
The design consists of a statue and pedestal; the statue is in round relief, draped in military clothing or uniform, and represents a Union soldier in the act of' planting the United States flug on the demolished wall of a. fortress, a. portion of which is represented, as also the Hag and flag-stad', a. broken sword and cannon, to indicate that the military power of the enemy is destroyed. The statue is designed to be made of bronze or other metal. The pedestal is the frustum of a quadrangular pyramid with two projecting bases. Pedestal is to be made of marble or other stone.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a monument for Union soldiers, as herein set forth and shown.
DAYTON MORGAN.
