Description

DESIGN.
B. GRONENBERG PORTIERB 11021:.
No. 24,531. Patented Aug. 6, 1895.
WITN E SESI ATTORN EYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE BERTI-IA ORONENBERG, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO MORRIS BERNHARD, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A PORTliERE-RORE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BERTHA CRONENBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Bulfalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Portiere-Ropes, of which the following is a specification.
This design relates to the ornamentation of ropes used for ornamental purposes, such as the cords of rope portieres, rope valances, curtain loops and holders, &c.
This design is illustrated in the accompany ing drawing, which forms part of this specification, and represents a fragmentary elem tion of such a rope.
The leading feature of my design consists of a strand of loops arranged spirally around a core or inner cord, with its convolutions separated and exposing the underlying core or cord between the convolutions.
A represents the core or inner cord, which is substantially of uniform diameter throughout, and B represents the strand of looped materialsuch, for instance, as uncut chenillewhich is wound spirally around the core or rope, with the convolutions of the spirally-arranged strand separated by an intervening spiral space 0, through which the core or cord is exposed. The oonvolutions of the looped material are raised above or project beyond the surface of the rope around which they are coiled, and as they are separated from each other they expose the core, which is of less diameter, so that the surface of the ornamental rope is made up of alternating spiral projections and depressions. This imparts to the rope a rich ornamental appearance, which can be increased by contrasting the alternately raised and depressed portions in color.
What I claim is The design for a. portiere rope, substantially as herein shown and described.
Witness my hand this 15th day of June,
BERTHA CRONENBERG. Witnesses:
CARL F. GEYER, THEODORE F. BERNARD.
