DESIGN FOR A METALLIC RIM FOR WHEELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,704, dated October 16, 1894.
Application filed July 20,1894. Sci-39.11%. 518,158. Term of patent 7 years.
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES UHALLINER, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and reland, residing atManchester, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented an Improved Design for the Metallic Rims of Wheels to be Fitted with India-Rubber or Noiseless Tires, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a design for grooved metallic rims for carriage and other similar wheels, which are provided with a grooved metallic rim for the reception of an indie rubber tire, and the design especially relates to rims with vertical sides and internally projecting beads.
My design is illustrated by the accompanying sheet of drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a side elevation of the rim, and Figs. 2 and 3 are sections through the rim, and drawn to a larger scale.
a a are the vertical sides of the rim, and a are the internally projecting heads. I
make an outside bead a upon the onterside a of the grooved rim, at or near the upper 25 part of the same. (See Figs. 2 and 3.)
The design may be repeated on the inner side a of the rim, as shown by the head a in Fig. 2.
The characteristic feature of my design is 0 the outside head in the outside of the rim at or near the upper part of the same.
The surface of the base inside the groove is concave, as seen at a on Figs. 2 and 3, but the surface of the base outside the groove is 35 quite fiat as seen at w".
I claim as my invention- The design for a grooved wheel rim, substantially as herein shown and described.
