DESIGN FOR A MATCH-BOX.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,095, dated. January 3, 1893. Application filed December S 1892. Serial No. 454.537. Term of patent 3% years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM W. HAYDEN, aoitizen of the United States, and a resident. of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Match-Boxes and other Articles, of which the following is a specification.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification in which the figure illustrates my newly-designed match box.

My new design relates to the ornamentation of the body and top or cover of the box and the leading feature consists of the representa tion of two masks illustrating comedy and tragedy.

A represents the body and B the top or cover of the box. On the body appears the representation of two masks a b arranged as shown. Surrounding the masks and the margin of the body appears the ribbon c which terminates at the top of the body adjacent to the masks. On the cover 15 appears a bowknot- (I of ribbon which is represented in extension of the ribbon on the body.

Having thus described my invention What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A design for a match box having its surface ornamented by masks as shown and described.

2. A design fora match box having its surface ornamented substantially as shown and described.
