To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GILBERT L. CROWELL, J r., a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Arlington, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new, original. and useful Design for the Backs for Brushes and Similar Articles, of which the following is a description, reference being made to the accompanying drawing, which illustrates the design and is made a part of the following specification.
The present design relates to a new and novel ornamentation for the backs and handles of toilet brushes, mirrors, and similar articles.
The drawing showsthe design as applied to the back and handle of a hair-brush or handmirror.
The general outline of the back of the article or of the back and front of the handle is substantially that of an ovate figure with coneaved sides. Following the outline along the sides of the article is the border A, composed of a series of small flutes curving outwardly from an inner border line and extending nearly to the outer or boundary line.
Upon the opposite sides of the top of the figure of design are represented in the border the plain disks B, which disks are sided by scrolls merging into the details of the border. At the top or crown of the figure is shown the disk 0, framed in scroll-work, and at the bottom or lower end of the figure is shown the conventionalized shell D. The portion of the figure inclosed by the border is plain and is of a slightly convexed or outwardly-rounding form.
