Application filed February Z4, 1890. Serial No. 341,594. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom/ it may concern.-
Ile it known that I, CHARLES V. BARTELS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nelsonville, in the county of Athens and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Pavingdllocks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
llly invention relates to designs for bricks or blocks for pavements or other mosaic-work in which a number of separate pieces are joined or united to form a desired surface; and it consists in the shape and configuration of such a block or brick, as will be hereinafter more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a block or brick showing my design. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same, and Fig. 8 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view,
The leading feature of my design consists of a block or brick having six faces arranged in the form of a parallelogram.
A represents a block or brick having six faces arranged as described, of which two of them, B and C, are substantially plain and smooth throughout, while two of the others,
1) and It, each have a depression or recess F extending centrally entirely across the surface parallel with two of the opposite sides, and the othertwo faces (I and II each havca corresponding elevation or ridge I I extending centrally entirely across the surface parallel with two of the opposite sides. ()ne of the plain flat surfaces J; has its edges out off or beveled, as shown at ,I J, which, when the blocks are placed together, form grooves or channels across its surface.
I'Iaving thus described claini- The design for a brick or block herein described aud shown, consisting of a figure having six surfaces, two of which are plain and flat and one of which has its edges beveled, two other of the surfaces each having a depression extending centrally entirely across it, and the other two each having a ridge or elevation extending centrally entirely across it, substantially as set fortlr In testimony whcreofI affix my signat nre in presence of two witnesses.
