Description

099-12 AU 291 EX DESEGN.
W. J. NOBLE.
BURIAL GASKET TOP. No. 18,030. Patented Jan. 24, 1888.
INVENTOR:
CZZ@:7,
ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES 'PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM J. NOBLE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BURlAL-CASKET TOP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,030, dated January 24, 1888.
Application filed November 16, 1387. Serial No. 25.15170. Term of patent 7 years.
To on whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM J. NOBLE, of the city, county, and State of New York,-have invented a new and original Design for Burial Gasket Tops, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a design for the tops or lids of burial-caskets or coffins; and it con sists, essentially, in a burial-casket top provided with posts upon its top and a rail passing from post to post entirely around the caskettop, as hereinafter particularly described and claimed.
Reference is to he had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, and which is a perspective view of a caskettop embodying my design, and set in inclined position.
In executing my design I provide the caskettop with a rail, A, which is held to posts B upon the easket'top. The rail passes from post to post about parallel with the top snrl face of the casket-lid.
The rail A gives a distinctive appearance to the caskettop and casket irrespective of the particular design or form of the rail itself. The particular design of the railsnpporting posts B also may vary within the scope of my invention.
The herein-described design is particularly adapted for the tops of burial-caskets used for bodies lying in state during public funeral ceremonies, as the rail gives to the eye the impre$ion of a guardrail, which is very appropriate and effective.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A design for casket-tops, consisting of a. casket-top having posts upon its frame and a rail passing from post to post entirely around the casket-top, as shown and described,
WILLIAM J. NOBLE.
