Be it known that we, Hans A. Bauer, Fred D. Woods, and Garfield L. Beckstrom, citizens of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Mechanical Pencil or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.

Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a, mechanical pencil or similar article, embodying our design.

Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.

Fig. 3 is a top plan view thereof.

Our design for a mechanical pencil or similar article, with the clip attached thereto, both of a configuration as shown, is characterized by the form and arrangement of the clip in combination with the areas of fine grooves placed longitudinally on a portion of the tip and adjacent body of the barrel where the grooves terminate in a dovetailed manner.

We claim:

The ornamental design for a mechanical pencil or similar article, substantially as shown and described.
