By his Jftomey I UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
MYER DITTENHOEFER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A CASE FOR THERM OMETERS 86C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,694, dated March 6, 1883. Application filed December 5, 1882. Term of patent 3& years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be'it known that I, MYER DITTENHOEFER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a (Jase for Thermometers, Pulsometers, and Similar Articles, of which the l'ollowingis a specification, relerence being had to theaccompanyingdrawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is aside elevation of my newly-designed case. Fig. 2 is an edge elevation of the same; and Fig.3 is a cross-section on line 3 3, Figs. 1 and 2.
The purpose of my invention is to provide a case for holding thermometers and other suitable articles of such a. form or configuration as to present a pleasing and ornamental appearance; and the main feature of my design consists in making such case or receptacle of ellipsoidal shape with rounded ends, as illustrated in the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, a represents the body of the case or receptacle, and b the top portion or lid. The general outline of the case is uniform, the two sides being convex, the whole presenting in its outer contour the figure or form of an ellipsoid, or an outline approaching an ellipsoidal form. The sides or edges taper slightly toward each end at c o, and the ends are rounded olf somewhat abruptly, as seen at d.- At the point of connection between the body portion a and cover,or lid b the edges of both parts are beveled inward, as seen at e, and between these bevels the outline or contour of the case or receptacle assumes a circular or nearly circular shape,f, thus presenting, when viewed in elevation, an indented or sunken side outline at the point where the lid and body portion are united.
I claim as my invention 1. As a new and original shape or configuration of cases for thermometers and pulsometers, a case of ellipsoidal form in every part of its length, and with rounded ends, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for a case or receptacle for thermometers or other articles, the same consisting of an ellipsoidal shaped case with rounded ends and slightly-tapering extremities, substantially as herein shown and described. 1
3. The design for a case or receptacle for thermometers and other articles, the same con-- sisting of an ellipsoidal-shaped body and case beveled on its edges'where the two partsjoin, and having a circular or nearly circular conformation between the beveled portions, substantially as herein shown and described.
MYER DITTENHOEFER.
