BAR MATERIAL FOR OPHTHALMIC MOUNTING-S Filed June 29 1938 INVENTOR flaw/9:0 #2 Jae/90v:- 1210mm Patented Jan. 31, 1939 UNITED STATES Des. 113,123
PATENT OFFICE DESIGN FOR BAR MATERIAL FOR OPHTHALMIC MOUNTINGS setts Application June 29, 1938, Serial No. 78,156
Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Edward M. Splaine, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Southbridge, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Bar Material for Ophthalmic Mountings, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The figure in the drawing is a greatly enlarged perspective View of a piece of bar material for use in forming parts of an ophthalmic mounting and embodying my new design.
The characteristic features of the design reside in the provision of bar-like material having a central longitudinal surface and opposed angularly disposed side surfaces on the upper face thereof. The central longitudinal surface has a relatively narrow intermediate corrugated portion with the said corrugations running in a direction substantially transversely of said central longitudinal surface. The angularly disposed longitudinal side surfaces are corrugated and the said corrugations are disposed in substantially the same directions as said central corrugations. The width of said central corrugations is such as to produce spaced relatively continuous reflective surfaces intermediate said central corrugated surface and said angularly disposed side surfaces so that when light impinges on the upper surface of said bar material the said central corrugations produce a dull appearance and the opposed relatively continuous spaced surfaces, at each side of said central corrugations, will produce bright bands of light with the angularly disposed side surfaces producing a dull appearance and of a different tone than the central corrugated surface when viewed at a slight distance therefrom.
The essential features of the design reside in the portions of the bar which are shown in full lines in the drawing.
I claim:
The ornamental design for bar material for ophthalmic mountings, substantially as shown and described.
EDWARD M. SPLAINE.
