UNITED, STATES PATENT OFFICE DESIGN FOR A CALCULATING MACHINE WITH SHIFTABLE CARRIAGE Carl M. F. Friden, Oakland, Calif., assignor to Friden Calculating Machine 00., Inc., a corporation of California Application January 20,1936, Serial No. 60,668
a Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Carl M. F. Friden, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Calculating Machine with Shiftable Carriage, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a perspective view taken from the front and right sides of a calculating machine embodying my new design.
Figure 2 is a right side elevation of the calculating machine illustrated in Figure 1.
My design for calculating machines with shiftable carriages is embodied in part in a body or casing having a generally rectangular top which slants upwardly from a relatively low front wall to a relatively high rear wall. Both front and rear walls of the casing are inclined slightly from the vertical toward each other, while the side walls of the casing are substantially vertical. At the bottom, all the casing walls curve outwardly adjacent the base on which the casing is mounted. At the top and adjacent the rear of the casing, the shiftable carriage is mounted in a recessed portion of the casing, the contour of the carriage being such as to substantial continue the outline of the adjacent casing walls.
The shiftable carriage contour merges with and continues the contour of the casing or body to provide a substantialy smooth outline. Also.
all sides of the body curve concavely into the base.
I claim:
The ornamental design for a calculating machine with shiftable carriage, as shown and described.
