IMPROVED PAINT.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and niaking part of the same.
1'0 all whom t't may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS H. GURREY, of Oineinnati, inthe county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented an Improved Elastic Paint; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof.
Totmake'this paint I use the following ingredients, and in the proportions given, or thei'eabout:
Take oi oannel-eoal tar, (generally known as caudle-gnm,) l'ourhundred pounds; litharge, twelve pounds; Spanish brown, forty pounds; dead oil,
(iii-strumming of distilled coal-tan) four gallons; ben
zine, eighty-eightgallons.
Thegum is first put intoa kettle or heating vessel,
and hented to boiling.v Then the litharge is mixed therewith. .The mixture is then allowed to cool down to about 150 Fahrenheit, when the dead oil is added, and one-half of the benzine. Then the Spanish brown is mixed in, and finally the remainder of the henzine is added. 1
Although the proportions of the several materials may be vuiied, those given 'are believed to Lethe best. v
This paint is valuable for manypurpos'es, pariicularly for outdoor use, such as fORCOVGl'IiIg iron fences, iron castings of various kinds, canvas 101- siemnhoat decks, and especially for roofs-0f all kinds, tin or shingle, old or new, flator steep.
I claim, as my invention- The. composition of ingredients substantially in the proportions and for the purposes herein specified.
