vhave invented anew and useful`lmprovement in Paiutersand Builders Scabld; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being hail to the accompanying drawings, and to the'v letters of reference marked thereon, and being a' part of this specilication.

'The nature of this invention relates to the const-ruction of a scaffold for the use of painters and builders, and consists in the ladjustable supports, by means of Iwhich the desired height of the' scaiold may be deterinined, as hereinafter more fully set forth.

Onftbe shelf is a pair ci' stationary hooks, a, with which engages a pair of eye-bolts, c, projecting from either end of a section of plat-form, A, which is held p in place by dropping a pin, ll, int-o the shelf of the bracket in front ofthe eye-bolt.

To elevate theseaiold additional braces, C', are employed, and are jointed to the lower ends of the first series in the tbllowingmanner:

Each end of the braces is provided on the rear side with one leaf of a strap-hinge, e, which are joined together by a hinge-pin, f. Y

On the upper fr'out end ofthe lower brace is hinged a latch, g, having a harpoorr head which engages with a notch cut iu the lower end of the upper brace, and is held in place by a collar or sleeve, h, slipped over it. As the platforms are hinged to the brackets, each bracket may be elevated the length of a section of brace without interfering with the rest, and the process repeated until the desired elevation of `scalold is attained.
