r a '1 The present invention relates to an apparatus by which a mixture of compressed gas and liquid maybe thoroughly agitated so as to aerate orcarbonate the liquid in themost erfect manner possible while an advanced portion of the same stream of liquid is being dispensed, and in which, at the same time, the aerated liquid can be cooled, so as to render it palatable when so dispensed.
In the accompanying drawing the figure is a verticalsection of my improved agitating and cooling ap aratus, certain parts being evat-ion. Referring-to the drawing, 1 indicates a :pipe, into which, by suitable means, commmgled gas and liquid at hi h pressure are charged, and through whlchsaid comming ed fluids flow.
The pipe 1 is connected with one end of a helical coil of ipe 2 in a receptacle 3, the other end of said pipe 2 being connected by nsin siphon ed with ice or of said coil are cooled. Within said coil,

In prior devices, the gas and liquid are agitated violently, but only once, generally by means of a rotary agitator in a reservoir or tank, whereas in my improved means the gas and liquid are subjected to a large number .of successive agitations, caused solely by the pressure and flow of the gas and liquid, permitting the liquid to absorb the gas to a certain extent before each subsequent agitation takes place.

1. A device of the character described, comprisin a pipe adapted to be connected at one en with a source of supply of gas and liquid under pressure, and at the other end with a dispensing device for d' ensing aerated liquid, and means for agitating gas and liquid passing through said pipe, comprising a series of concave rifles arranged with their concave surface directed toward the first named end of said pipe, and a wire centrally connecting said rifles, substantially as described.
