The invention relates to a faucet and more particularly to the classof self closing faucets. v

It will be noted that this sprlng 17 serves to automatically close the faucet so that it may be termed a self closing faucet.
Rising from the upper side of the section 7 is an upwardly. and outwardly curved arm 27 which .is integral therewith, the outer end of the arm beingisbifurcated in which is fitted a'handgopera'ted pull cam lever 28, the same being connected to the arniby a pivot 23, the .lower endof the arm engaging against the rounded outer end 30 of the stem or rod 13 so that upon forwardly rocking the lever 2S,the valve stem or rod will be forced inwardly in the casing 5 to unseat the ball valve 23 against the resistance of the spring 17 thereby-permitting water to flow freely through and from the faucet until pressure has been released upon the cam lever whence the valve 28 will again become seated by action of the spring for positively closing the faucet to shut off the' supply of water'throughout.

This ear 37 is engaged by the finger of an operator and on pressing inwardly toward the lever 28 tl e locking dog will be brought into engagement between a. pair of teeth of i the segment 35, after the valve '28 has been moved to open the valve and by the action of the spring 17 within the shell or casing of the faucet the locking dog will frictionally bind against one of the teeth between the pair withwhich itnis inserted and lock the leveragainst movement by the resistance of the said expansion spring-l7 within the casing of the faucet. It will-be obvious .that the lever 28 can beheld adjustedso as to maintain the valve in opened position and spaced-vat any degree within the limit of movement of, the stem 13 from the seat 26 of the said valve thus-regulating the flow of Water through the faucet. To release the on releasing the said lever 28 the ball valve 23 will automatically travel to its seat in the faucet casing.

What is claimed is: 1. Ina faucet, acasing havingan arm projecting therefrom and provided with a toothed segment, a plunger rod operating in the casing and having a valve, one end of said plunger pro ecting from the same end of the casing as said arm, aspring to normally close said valve, a lever mountedgon said armand engaging said plunger rod, to open the valve and a dogcarried by said lever and coacting with said segment to hold the valve open.
2. A faucet comprising'a casing having a valve seat, a valve movable on the seat, a
valve rod engaging the valve, a lever for operating the valve rod, a support on the easing having a rack and pivotallysupporting the lever, and a elutchdog pivoted to the lever .to transversely engage the rack on the support.
3. A faucet comprising a casing having a valve seat, a valve movable on the seat, a
