To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM L. Sermonnnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Livingston, in the county of Park and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Timdow Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
:This invention relates to new and useful improvements in window attachments, and more particularly that class known as fly catching devices.
An object of this invention is the pr0- vision of a substantially cylindrical mem her being adjustable to fit any size window, and being of such construction as to contain a poison of some kind which will kill flies or other insects which come in contact with the same.
A fin-their object of this invention is to improve and simplify devices of this character, rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in use and readily operated.
W'ith the above and other objects in View this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more particularly described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which-- Figure l is a front elevation of my invention; Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line of 33 of Fig. 1., and Fig. 4; is a perspective view of one of the telescoping sections.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference the numeral 1 designates gen- I erally a portion of a window sash comprismg opposite side rails 2, connected at their opposite ends by means of end rails A suitable panel 4. (if-glass is secured 1n the usual manner to the window sash, and has located at the opposite sides thereof grooves 5, which lie between the said rails 2 and the before mentioned panel 4. My improved attachment 6 consists of a substantially tubular member 7 which can be either solid or formed with telescoping sections 8, where by the same can be adjusted to fit different sized windows. When this device is applied to a window pane, the offsets 13 are slipped into -the grooves 5, and the tubular member 6 slipped downward to the lower portion of the window, which movement is limited by the lower rail 3. The upper edge of the tubular member adjacent the slot 10 is curved downwardly as at 14, which prevents the flies or other insects from escaping by one side, while the glass pane 4 which es flush with the opposite ed e of the slot prevents them from escaping from the other side.
The bottom of the tubular member may contain a quantity of poisonous powder or other like substance which will serve to destroy insects imprisoned within the said tubular member 7.
From the foregoing disclosure taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be manifest that when the device is applied in the manner previously described, an insect destroyer will be provided which will fulfil all the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device such as described comprising a tubular member provided in its side with a slot, closures connected to the opposite ends of the tubular member, a portion ofthe same being extended beyond the periphery thereof for the purpose of holding the edge of the slot at one side thereof against the object to which the device is to be attached, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2.
