OLSON, citizen of the United States, residing at Muskegon, in the county of Muskegon and State of Miohigen, haveinvented certain new and `useful Improvements .in Rotary Motors, of which the-following is a specification.
rIhis invention relates to. rotar)r motors und has for its object to provide a strong, durable, compact and -throughly eticient machine of this character, capable of being Opf erated by compressed air, steam, or other uotuating fluid, and which muy be used with equally good results for operating :L pneumatic drill, or as a niotorfor driving (litterent kinds of machinery.
A further object is to provide a rotary motor, the construction of which is such that the severaflfbarts thereof are evenly balanced, thus insuring a smooth continuous movement of the rotors, and consequentl)T increasing theeflioienov of the machine.
A still further object of the invention is generally to improve this class of devices so` as to increase their utility, durability. ond

The improved motor forming thesubjectmatter ot the present invention comprises o. casing or housing 5 preferably' substuniially cylindrical in sha e, andl formed'ot a plurality, of indepe ent sections 6 yheld in assembled position by tie-rods or bolts .7 piero ing the opposite heads 8 and 9 of the easing.
Interposed between the casing sections 6 are a plurality of transverse partitions 10 defining intermediate compartncnts 11 in which are mounted for rotation a plurality of rot-ors 12, the latter bei-ng keyed o r otherwise fixed to a centrally disposed driving shaft 13.

Auxiliary port-s 18 are formed in the casing sections to permit the/passage of the exhaust stezun from the compartments 11 to the ports 16 and thence through the opening -or port 18' to the atmosphere.

Attention is here 'called to the fact that the inner wall of each enlargement-1.4 is provided with an irregular or cam face 33 which by' engagement with the/active ends ofthe swinging blades or pistons 21 serve to gradually close the latter and thus'preyent injury to-tbe'same by reason of a sudden jar or vibration, which would naturally result if the pistons or blades 21 were closed abruptly. The projecting'portrions 34 ofthe rotors perform the-same function with reference to tbe swinging blades or abntments to cause the gradualclos ing of said abutments when the members 12 are rotated.
