IMPROVEMENT IN :BATTERIES FOR ELECTROTYPIVNG.

I, PETER S. Hon, of .the city, county, and State-of New York, have invented a new and improved Bat tery for Electrotypers Use, of which the following is a speeiication.

General Dcscrpiion.l
The parts A, B B,C C, which form the bottom, side,
and end-pieces of the trough, are cut of the desired size,vfrom plate-glass. i The plate A, which forms the hase, is provided with two longitudinal grooves, b b, into which the sideplates B B fit, and also with two transverse grooves, c c, which receive the end-plates C @which also lit into the groovesd ll'in the sideplates 'B B.
i The plates are seemed together by means of the rods E and F, which pass through holes drilled in the side and base-plates, and the nuts e and washers f. The washers, on thee-nds of the bolt-rodsl are made of elastic material, iu order t0 provide for any expansion or contraction that may take place, and they may he constructed ot' brass, steel, or other material that possesses the requisite quality of elasticity.
The Igrooves iuto'whieh'the ends of the plates are received, are coated with wax, or othersubstauce that will answer the purpose, in order to prevent leakage; but to more eii'ect'uall y prevent the loss 0i' any fluid, the battery, when completed, is placed iu a box, G, and the space between the two is lled with paraine or similar material, impervious to uids.
Claims.
'1. As a new and improved article "off-manufacture a Abattery constructed of glass, substantially inthemanner and for the purposes set forth and specged.
2. The combination, with a battery constucted of glass, of the case, lined with paraline or 'similar mah terial, substantially as described, and for the purposes specified.
