SELF-FILLING- FOUNTAIN-PEN.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JACOB ULLRIOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hoboken, county of Hudson, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Self-Filling F ountain-Pen, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a self filling fountain pen of novel construction and more particularly to new and efficient means for manipulating and locking the presser bar which serves to compress the ink bag.

lVit-hin the barrel 10 of a fountain pen is inclosed an ink bag 11, along which extends the presser bar 12, as usual. From bar 12 projects outwardly through a corresponding aperture of barrel 10, a threaded pin orstud 13. This stud is headed as at 15, and encompassed by a hollowed nut or button lat, having an inner tapped section that engages the stud and an outer chamber that encompasses the upper headed end of said stud. Head 15 prevents the button from becoming disconnected from the stud, by excessive unscrewing. or while the pen is carried about, so that the button cannot become lost.

When the button is screwed down (Fig. 1) it will engage the face of barrel 1'0, and lock the stud against axial movement, so that an untimely compression of bag 11 is Specification of Letters Patent.

prevented. hen the button is screwed up (Fig. 3) it will become spaced from the barrel, so that by a pressure upon the button, the stud will be projected into the barrel to cause the desired compression of bag 11 by bar 12.

i It will be seen that by the means de scribed, the pressure bar may be either liberated or locked, in an efficient manner and with a minimum amount of manipulation while the headed end of the stud is permanently inclosed within the hollow of the button, so that the stud is not liable to be broken or to tear the pocket.

In Figs. 1-1 the button is open on top and split to increase its grip upon the stud, while in Fig. 5 the button is pear-shaped and hollow to accommodate the stud.

I claim:

1. A fountain pen provided with a barrel, an inclosed ink bag, a presser bar engaging the bag, a threaded stud projecting outwardly from the bar through an aperture of the barrel, and. threaded button engaging the stud, said button being chambered to accommodate the stud.

2. A fountain pen provided with a barrel, an inclosed ink bag, a presser bar engaging the bag, a threaded stud projecting outwardly from the bar through an aperture of the barrel, a head on said stud, a button having a tapped lower section engaging the stud and a chamber that projects over and 1 permanently receives the head.
