li ented a new and useful Improvement in i'tachrnents for Stoves, Ranges, &c.; and l d hereby declare the folh m'in q to be a full, clear. and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to an attaclunent for stoves and rai'iges. and has special reference to a device for the drawing of water inlo receol'acles on the stove or within which is employed. The object of my invention is to provide a cheap simple and ellicient device which can be attached to the general form of stove or range and will enable lhe'ilrawing of wnlo receptacles placed upon the top said. stove or range, as well as one which permit such drawing to tal-ce place eni points on the stove, or range top and can he removed from over said top when not in use.
To these ends my invention consists, generully stated, in the novel arrangement, conl action and combination of parts ashore ter more specifically set forth and de- .1 and particularly pointed out in the enable others skilled in the. art to which invention appertains to construct and use my improved attachment for stoves and lv will describe the same more fully, 'ing to the accompanying drawing, in-
irhich l ig'ure l is side eleration or my improved attachment stoves and ranges showing 4! Lilfi same applied to and extended over the oi: a stove. Fin". *2 IS a plan view oi the no. ll 3 is-a, rear view of the same. e is a or ss-section on the line e-alt l ig'.
i h in the direction of the arrow. Ike symbols of reference herein indicate like parts in each of the figures of the drawing".
As illustrated in the drawing, 1 represents a portion of an ordinary stove or range and ho usual top plate having the downwardly (l outwardly inclined sides 3 thereon. sling to the stove i from any suitable c of water supply and extending lly ahovo lhe top plate 3 is the pipe 4, h is held in position on said stove by 11' pm support 5 fitting around said pipe I I I Specification of Letters latcnt. passing through flanges i 'sumort anclenmmun with said I n 23 C 3 sides. 1
' Extending above the top plate is the vex-t cally arranged supporl or bracket 8, which is provided with horizontal supporting portion 9 at its upper end, and from which the standards 10 project downward and out Ward in order to be attached to the upper surface of the top plate 2 by bolts 11 passing through flanges 12 on the ends of the same and engaging with said plate. Fitting Within the supporting portion 9 on. the bracket 8 the pipe. 13, which is held therein by a clamping plate l l fitting' over the same and connected to said portion by the bolts 15. One endof an elbow 1G is connected to the rear end-of the pipe 13, and the opposite end of said elbow is connected to the upper end of a vertical pipe 17 which has a valve 18 connected to its lower end and to the upper end oi'the pipe 4: and is operated by the usual. handle wheel 19 thereon.
Attached .to the frontend of the pipe 13 is the swinging arm connection 20 consisting the two pipes 21 and 22 which are connectecl together by a swinging joint 23 and the pipe 21 is connected to the front end of the pipe'lii by a swinging joint 24. The pipe 22 forms a nozzle portion and is pro vided with a downwardly extending curved portion 525 at its free end for the discharging of water therefrom, while adjacent to. said portion 25 is a handle QISior moving l'he connection 20.
The use and operation of my improved attachment "for stoves and ranges is as follow. s:---lVilh the water supplied to the pipe l and it is desired to draw the same therefrom into a receptacle or pan a placed iipon the, stove top all that is necessary is to swing the arm conneciion 20 through its swing-inejoints "2 and 34 connected to said pipe through the pipes 13 and 1.7 to the position shown in l'ull lines in 2 over said pan. and then by opening the-valve 18, the n'alcr can pass through said pipes and arm muuuwlion and he discharged into said pan through the nozzle portion 25.
l't will he ohvious that the swinging-arm connection 20 can he \\lllll to different p0silions for drawing waler"therefrom at all places on the slow top 2 or into. receptacles placed on said top or upon the lids 2 thereon, as well as at places around and away from said top, and when not in use said connection can be swung from over the top of the stove and away from the same.
.It will be evident that the attachment can be located and operated from different places around the stove or range and on operated at will and will not interfere or be in the way of the use of the stove or range {or other purposes, While at the same time it will act as a labor saving device in overcoming the carrying of Water to the stove or range in pans or receptacles, and will thereby save the wear and tear on the dilterent utensils used around a stove through the unnecessary handling of the same.
-\Vhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is Y In an attachment for stoves and ranges, the combination of a stove having its top provided with a depending edge, a two legged standard mounted on said stove top, an upright supply pipe attached to said edge, a horizontally movable swinging pipe supported by said standard and connected to said pipe at one end for discharging water over the stove top, said swinging pipe having a down 'ardly projecting nozzle at its outer end.
In testimony whereof, I, the said RAY E. :SILEN, have hereunto set my hand.
