Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LADISLAUS HAUBnN- TALLER, a subject of the King of Hungary, and resident of Ujszasz, Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Fire and lVater Tube Boilers.
This invention relates to a boiler which is distinguished from well known boilers in that a steam generator belonging to the species of fire tube boilers is combined with water tubes mounted in the flue tube so that as seen from its designation a combined fire and water tube boiler is obtained.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 shows a vertical longitudinal section of the boiler; Fig. 2 is a section on line AA of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a front elevation view of the front wall of the boiler.
As already stated, the outer boiler 1 is a fire tube boiler in which 2 designates the flue tube provided with an internal grate furnace 3 and having an inner diameter which may vary according to requirements. The flue tube 2 is provided at its rear end with a tubular extension 41 which is inwardly and downwardly directed and is connected by means of any suitable flange connection 5 with the water space 6. The latter has a rectangular cross section while viewed from the front it assumes the shape shown by Fig. 2. In order to give it a secure hold its lateral surfaces may be allowed to bear against the inner wall of the flue tube, and an intermediate layer may be employed, if desired, as shown by Fig. 3. A number of parallelly arranged water tubes 7 open out in the water chamber, these water tubes rising forwardly and opening out at their front ends into a second water chamber 8 which has been constructed in a similar manner as the first named one. The water chamber 8 is secured to the front wall 9 of the boiler and is connected by means of a bent pipe 10 with the steam space of the large water space 11.
The water tubes 7 may be supported and fixed about in their middle by means of a suspended supporting member 12. Mounted in one of the water tubes is a discharge pipe 13 which opens out at the front wall of the boiler and is provided at its free end with a discharge cook or valve 14.
The cleaning of the rear water chamber 6 and of the water tubes is effected through openings which are lightly closed in the usual manner by means of closing caps 15.
The above cited discharge pipe 18 projects as far into one of the water tubes that its opening is positioned near the line of the strongest fire action. 4
The boiler fittings are the usual ones.
I claim:
1. A boiler comprising in combination, an outer hollow structure having a relatively large flue therein eccentrically disposed with respect thereto, a grate in said flue, a group of water-tubes above said grate and inclined downwardly in said flue and extending rearwardly of the grate, a chambered member connected with the forward upper end of said tubes, a tubular connection between said member and the upper portion of said structure, a tubular member extending downwardly in said flue and including an archlike portion connected with said tubes, said arch-like portions being connected at its ends with said structure at the lower portion of the flue thereof.
2. A boiler comprising in combination, an outer hollow structure having a relatively large flue extending therethrough, agrate in said flue, a group of water-tubes above said grate and inclined downwardly in said flue and extending rearwardly of the grate therein, means connecting the upper ends of said tubes with said structure, a tubular connection in-said flue extending downwardly from the upper portion of said structure and including an arch-like portion connected with said structure and with said tubes, and a support for said tubes connected with said structure between the ends thereof.
3. A boiler comprising in combination, an outer hollow structure having a relatively large flue extending therethrough, a grate in said flue, a group of water-tubes above the grate and inclined downwardly in said flue tubes and with said structure near the lower and extending rearwardly from the grate, portion of said flue. 10 means connecting the forward or upper ends In testimony whereof I have hereunto set of said tubes with said structure, and a tubumy hand in presence of two witnesses.
